Best KISS mod I’ve seen on this forum. Simple but brilliant. Everything I own with a pin is about to get a new magnet.

And this comes AFTER I just spent 30 minutes looking for a hair clip pin in the grass that I dropped.
This will be done first thing today!

Now,, I gotta go find where I put the epoxy,, so I do not loose the magnet,,, :confused2:

Nope.....Mod all my attachments to fit one configuration..... Mod once, not adjust 50 times....

Dale

This. Having to move the top link up and down defeats the purpose of the QH IMO.

And modifying the top link height on a 3ph implement is usually by far the easiest thing to change when modding an implement for a QH.

Good a place as any to put this query.

I have a Mahindra rake and a WoodMaxx 62" flail. I've not used either yet. Bought a Harbor Freight QH yesterday after stopping at the local tractor dealer and getting a quote of nearly $550 for a LandPride QH  I won't use it nearly enough to justify that cost.

The top hook on the QH is in the top position, looks like if I lower it one pin hole and get the proper Cat1 to Cat 2 bushings it will fit the rake. BUT the vertical distance from the side pins to the top pin on the flail is about 20", the hook just barely touches the flail's top pin (trying things with the QH off the tractor) and it is on the curved part of the hook. The WoodMaxx manual says the flail is Cat 1 QH compatible (but not JD i-match compatible) so either there are no standards for QHs or HF's is way out of spec or WM is way out of spec. The top pin in the flail rides in a horizontal slot, no vertical adjustments possible.

My options:
1. Drill another hole in the QH's top hook, it looks like I could get one in below the current lower hole and the same distance apart as the 2 existing holes. The bottom of the hook would still be below the pin but the pin would hit on the vertical part of the hook.
2. Take the QH back and just suck it up mounting the flail? The rake isn't nearly as heavy so messing around to get the link arms attached wouldn't be as bad as trying to do that with the 700# flail.

Given the OP's original post I've added one possibility:
3: Can I buy a top hook for the QH with a longer "tail" so it can be raised higher than the OEM hook? I don't see anything with a Google search. I have no ability to fabricate anything of that nature. I could make one out of wood be we all know how well that would work out.

Thanks,
Bruce

I had the same problem with my Caroni flail - draw pins are Cat1 width, but the top pin is the height of the Cat THREE QH spec  (20")

You mentioned what you can NOT do, here's a couple options you MAY be up to -

1. My version, some 1/2"x2" flat bar and some holes (5/8" ones and bolts and maybe a new hitch pin

And a couple from other members here -

The orange add-on piece may be available from HF, but isn't listed in their site - from the HF quick hitch manual -

"Note: If the implement does not meet ASAE specifications, use Hitch Adapter (ITEM 29309).
To order Hitch Adapter, call 1-888-866-5797"

don't bother typing that # into their site, I just tried...

Also, I don't know if your flail's tower has 2 different height holes like my Caroni, but you'd need SOME way to keep the "de-extenders" pointing down if you went with my version - The UP side of my method is you don't have to mess with that floppy adapter every time you hitch up. HTH... Steve

You have to call the number to order that stirrup looking piece from HF.
AgriSupply carries it I believe.
But with shipping ends up a bit more.
Top Hitch Adapter-Quick Hitch | Agri Supply #61369

The big end goes to the tractor side and can stay on the toplink pin all the time and just flipped to the rear as needed. Though I have had to remove mine since I installed a hydraulic toplink. It drops down during toplink extension getting in the way to retract the piston all the way. But I haven’t needed it since the conversion so no big deal.

It makes a decent floating connection for things that follow ground contours like mowers also.
Here’s one video. There’s more.
Quick Hitch Adapter - YouTube

Most of us weld something on the back of the hook to extend it out.

Remove the bolts in the hook and use 1/4 pins with hair clips to allow moving the hook up and down or removing it quickly without tools in the field. Holes in the hitch and hook may have to be wallowed out slightly to fit with a drill.

And modify the implements to match as needed.
