DIY skidding winch build

A few months back I started a thread on a small hydraulic capstan skidding winch for my own personal firewood processing. The Norwood winch to exact Skid-Winch | Norwood
Some liked the idea and some didn稚 but I decided it would be perfect for my needs and wouldn稚 break the bank. With lots of research and questions I finally have a finished product. Here are some pictures. I have $900 into it and that is with the cost of the rear remotes I had to install. Missing in the picture are the drop legs that go into the two receiver hitches to stop the tractor from being pulled backwards. I tried it out for the first tome today and was quite impressed. I pulled my 600 lbs concrete counterweight off the pallet it was sitting on and across the yard with ease with the tractor at idle.

It looks great and you saved some money too. It looks like it will do everything you want it to do. The only question I have is why did you put a T in the line. Was it because of tight space where you mounted the valves. I’m not trying to knock your design at all but why did you T the line, if it was all in a loop, it would still do the same and possibly have alittle less hose. If you went from beyond on loader to in on 3rd function, out from third function to in on remotes and the the original hose where the T is to the out of remotes back to the bottom of the tractor. I really like the setup and have the same tractor as you do so I am curious.

Scooc according to the valve instructions, once the power beyond sleeve is installed in the “T1” port the “T2” port has to be used to take the fluid from the cylinder back to tank. I’m no hydraulic guru so I was just following the instructions.

I wasn’t thinking about the fluid returning from the cylinder. I really like the way the valves are setup. If you ever needed another remote up front with the third function it would be easy to configure it without having to run off the rear remotes. What valves did you use for your set up. The hydraulics are a very nice custom setup.

It looks really nice, job well done. Where did you get your third function valve? How do you deal with all the slack rope as you pull in the load?
