Compact Tractor with factory cab and backhoe

That's not really how I read it. He wants the cab for the forward functions like snowblowing. He even mentions taking the cab off in better weather for BH use.

I went back and read it again, thought I saw something about trenching in bad weather but that wasn’t from the OP. Lots of options for CAB + backhoe, just no integrated swivel seat. B2650, Grand L series...many other brands would have similar offerings

You seem to be looking for the worst machine for both worlds of backhoe and loader. If you plan on mostly backhoe work get a mini-ex. Buy a SCUT/CUT with a cab and a loader if you need loader and 3PH work. Unless you buy a TLB with a swivel seat you will absolutely hate climbing on and off the tractor every 3 feet while using the hoe.

A machine that does a little of everything does not do any particular job exceedingly well.

But a machine that does one job really good sucks for much else. I wish excavators with wheels was a more common option. I couldn’t loose the driving at 20 mph on my backhoe for creeping around at 2mph. A tracked skid loader is better than a tlb for loader work but I’d take a TLB over a wheeled skid any time. I made a trade with a guy to dig a few stumps for him and in return use his 5635 Gehl skid steer on a job and I left thinking it was a brilliant trade. I learned I’d never be satisfied with a wheeled skid for the small price of an hour or so of work. I hated the Gehl and ended up just doing most of the work in my backhoe.

Pretty broad brush statement considering that you likely have no personal knowledge of anyone痴 private financial situation, other than your own. I personally know of many people that have 鍍oys and can afford them without hurting their bank accounts.

Somehow you totally missed my point.

I was defending exactly the same situation that you are holding as an example.

The original argument was that people doing what they want even if not fiscally conservative is why "people" are in such bad shape today.

My point was that the reason "people" are in trouble is because they act that way AND DON'T CARE IF THEY CAN AFFORD IT OR NOT.

The unwritten corollary is that there are some (many) people that CAN afford it.

Can't you simply use the backhoe to push the tractor ahead a few feet when ditching and keep on digging ?
That's what I've always done.

Maybe if you're digging in sand.

Around here you have the loader holding the front tires off the ground (or at least taking the weight off) or you are dealing with a very unstable platform. Yes, with a NON-CAB unit you may be able to turn and lift the loader enough, but no way on my B3030HSDC, as the back window has to be closed during BH operation unless you are about 4' tall.

Maybe if you're digging in sand.

No sand here. Dirt and sand stone, occasional rock.
I rarely put the loader the way down (unless digging on a steep hill.). I keep it up slightly and the backhoe stabilizers, stabilize the machine.
Dig as far as I can, stuff the backhoe in the ground, push it ahead, dig some more. (I do have to run the steering wheel on accession while pushing forward to keep a straight line) That would be difficult with a cab.

Maybe I'm just showing my inexperience, but I would not feel comfortable without the loader on the ground. I did learn from my late father-in-law, long time commercial operator, in sandy NJ ground.

And while I've never measured it, my BH80X (entry level small BH) the specs say I can dig 75" deep for 8' out. Again, probably showing my inexperience, but at the rate it takes me to dig 8' horizontal at 75" deep I'm ready for a break in the A/C cab...

The loader being down helps a huge amount while trying to push with the boom but I’ve experienced very little difference with the loader up vs down while ditch digging.

Considering 75% of people going into retirement have less than 100k saved up you are probably right. But you'll usually find these forums whether it be cars, boats, tractors, is everybody has money or has a rich buddy etc. Which end of the day its nobodys business nor do I care or should anybody else. Reality is based off the percentages the picture painted by most people on these forums probably isnt reality

Thanks all for the valuable replies. On to my next question. Someone had mentioned removing the rear window of a factory cab to allow you to swivel seat and utilize backhoe. After looking at all brands I am leaning slightly towards the Mahindras, Max 25, 26XL or 1626. But I'd be curious to know if anyone has removed the rear window on any of these models. It seems like it would be possible. I had thought about calling the dealer, but because I tend to get good responses, thought I'd throw it out here on the forum.
