Tractor rolled over on me this morning

WOW, people down there must work cheap. Someone backs a tow truck up to a car, that takes five minutes and it could cost $500.00. God help you if it sits in their yard!

Down here the $100 will pay for any kind of normal recovery, like a slide off into a ditch or even sometimes a little worse. As long as a regular tow truck or rollback can do it. Not so if a rotator is needed or a complex two truck pull.

Thats great. My only upset was my little Steiner tractor. I too shut it off quickly, but not as quickly as I would have liked due to disorientation. Like, where did the keyswitch go?

Another nasty thing that can happen is you can't shut it off. It starts consuming its own crankcase oil in a runaway condition. Time to hop off and stuff your shirt in the air intake.

Wow. That would not be good.

Yep full throttle and not a thing you can do but either smother its air supply or watch it seize up. And you don't have all day to decide what to do either.

You could do that with the Steiner, provided it didn't fall on that side. Good Luck trying to get at the Intake of almost any modern tractor. If the loader isn't in the way, all the plastic will be. If close to the garage, I would grab a CO2 extinguisher. But not sure that would even work.

the tractor will crush you in the seat that way if you have a 2 point ROPS. not good for most people!..
Riiiiight. That is why OSHA requires them for all employee operated tractors (except in special circumstances).
Please show some facts to back up your claims.

I too question that. In my way of thinking, the first purpose of a standard two post ROPS is to keep the tractor from going over, beyond lying on it's side. If you do that, you probably limit the tendency to keep rolling down a hill. Not a great experience for an operator.

Exactly, unless you are into drag racing your tractor, 90% of the time it's going less than 10MPH and forward speed isn't a real factor in the forces on a rollbar.
