Have u considered a pierced frame deck over? The channel crossmembers go thru the I beam instead of on top it, floor boards end up flush with top of I beams. Lowers the deck height little over 4" which helps quite a bit. I've got a GN this way with the mega ramps. I'm also one who likes to keep the cog as low as possible. B

Who makes these?

I’m starting to question if I really want a deckover now as I only need it for my larger tractor. Is the added height really that much of a issue? My current equipment trailer has a 2’ dovetail with 5’ ramps and is easy to load. The deckover I was going to buy has a 3’ dovetail with 5’ ramps so figured would be about the same load angle considering the extra dovetail length. Sounds like I maybe way off though.

I have a Moritz GN with a pierced frame. You have to order it as a low profile though.

Mine is a load trail but most all the mfgs make them I believe. If your 3pt attachments are dragging going forward up ramp can't u just back on instead? Biggest advantage to deck over is being able to side load pallets and such. I bought mine because it needed to serve double duty, equipment up ramps and side loading . B

For hauling somewhat tall, heavy stuff, (tractors etc.) the lowest center of gravity is best/safest.
It is not necessarily a convenience issue, but it is definitely a physics issue!

If you have real concerns about deck over trailers and COG you probably should hire your hauling done.

With my tilting deck (flat, no dovetail) if you are going to drag, you drag one way or the other. Either on the ground or on the deck, depending on the direction you load or unload. If you are nose down on a slope or backed up to a hill I rarely drag. Its iffy on dragging on flat ground. Really only my box blade barely does it. My flail has a roller on the back, so I dont care about it touching at all.

I expect a dovetail would be the same. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

I understand what your saying about either direction. Could you temporarily turn in the top link on 3pt just for loading? This would give more clearance right? B

Yes sir that’s what I have to do on occasion. Just a little more work as I don’t have hydraulic driven top link. Normally it’s pretty hard by hand unless you can find a bank or incline to sit the implement down on. Then when you want to go back to the correct setting you need another bank, incline, cinderblock or something to take the weight off to reposition the implement. If it’s a light implement not really a issue though.

Low deck trailers, for private individuals, are a LOT more cost effective than calling in a hauling company.
