I agree on using the wrong tool for the job. That trailer is made for a much shorter load and has the axels too far forward. And your truck isn’t rated for anything close to 6,000 without brakes and no weight distribution hitch. That load probably weighs more than 6,000 anyway. Do the smart thing and park that rig before something bad happens.

I have to agree... this is a kind of a stumbling thing in every which direction. The little short trailer may not be a POS as FTG said but at best it is the WRONG TOOL for what you are trying to do. You said in the other thread regarding the "ethics" of your dealer where you bought the Kubota and backhoe that the dealer was close by, yet you had no way to haul it to him. Thankfully the dealer now says he'll come to you and make it right. GOOD (in the other thread but very related to this one.)

1) The trailer might even be solid with need of some maintenance but it looks like just a misfit. The axles are in the middle because it was made very short for specific kind of loads and there is not much of it except FOR the middle ! You bought a rather specialized skid-steer or small excavator trailer and are trying to make a more gen purpose one out of it (or get-by as-is.)
2) You do not sound like you have any intent to use the brakes on the trailer. You need the brakes with that "heavy hauling Ranger" truck especially, [so aptly named by 4570!] and should have them regardless. I don't want to be on the highway where ever you are.
3) You never did say why you must pull with the Ranger, having also said you have larger trucks around like Dodge pickups AND that your intent is not very frequent hauling. This just isn't a logical scenario...
4) I don't know how great a deal you got on the WRONG TOOL but you need to re-sell it and go get the right tool for what you want to do. Us peanut gallery people on TBN can offer 40 or 50 pages more advice but you really ought to sidle up to a a friend or knowledgeable equipment person you see often and get on-site guidance on your soon-to-be purchase of the RIGHT TOOL.

Who knows, if you got a great deal on the trailer we've been discussing, you might make a little cash on it while you go find a better fit for your tasks.

I was just about to post something to this effect, but couldn't have said it this well, so I'll just +100 and amen to it all - especially about not wanting to share the road with you.

Not to pile on, but I agree as well. I towed 6.5k behind my Tacoma with better ballance & good brakes a couple times. I was within the ratings for the truck, but it was not comfortable. I promptly got a better truck for future towing.

Its illegal to run a trailer over 3k lbs without properly functioning brakes in most states for very valid reasons. The moral, not to mention legal implications of endangering others with improper gear or at least improperly setup gear is not good.

My heavier trucks are at home with me, the property where I am working is 2 hrs away, I keep the ranger in the same storage container as the tractors, I drive the Ranger maybe 20 miles in 2-3 months, the trailer is used much less, it sits outside my storage container.

I gave 300 dollars for the trailer if i remember correctly, I gave more initially but called the knot head on the way home, told him I knew he sold me a lemon ( cause of the swaying ) and he quickly reimbursed me several hundred dollars on my paypal cause I made it clear I wasnt gonna just walk away.

I pulled my little Kubota this A.M to the shop, it was loaded as far forward as I could get it, no swaying whatsoever, Im gonna cut the ramps off, take it for a ride, see what happens, if all is good than I will fabricate a new way of attaching ramps so they sit flat on trailer, if the ramps arent the issue than I will get rid of the trailer and start over.

I need a trailer on my property to haul my tractors to the dealer if need be, really no other reason, I have a 20 ft dual axle car hauler at my home that I use often for everything else.

I have no interest in hurting anyone because I was only considering myself

Also (IMO), its one thing to be over that weight with a bigger truck (such as a 1 ton towing 4000# with no trailer brakes but good weight distribution), its another to be using a truck (such as this ranger) at the limit of its tow rating with a no trailer brakes and poor weight distribution...

Please, do yourself and those on (or near) the road with you a favor and fix the trailer brakes and put a brake controller in your Ranger ASAP.
Even if its just a cheap timed brake controller (available for $25 in Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Reese-Towpower-74642-Brakeman-Compact/dp/B0016KA9PY/ ), it makes all the difference in the world to be able to hit the button to turn on the trailer brakes and have it pull back on the truck to reduce its sway...

If you dont mind...how do they work, I think Ive seen a hydraulic brake line on my trailer ( one single line coming up to the tongue ) but you make it sound like its electric?

If the 20ft trailer is a flat deck trailer l would use it to haul the bigger tractor on. I completely understand the need for 2 trailers because when ones at home and you are at the other place, it never fails that you should have brought it with you. The smaller trailer might be a good match for the smaller tractor. I have a friend that has the smaller wheels on his car hauler trailer because he is alway getting old cars and truck to paint or fix up and it was specially made for the low clearance to get non running vehicles on. I would definitely tow with the larger trucks and use the ranger to run back and forth in.
