Vacuum cleaners - Oreck?

   / Vacuum cleaners - Oreck? #51
Have several vacuum cleaners. Wife worked at Merry Maids for awhile. They used Oreck and she liked it. Bought it from them with a discount. For some reason after using it at home for awhile she went back to her old one. Sold it and eventually found a newer model Oreck at a flea market which she uses and likes. I bought a Compact when they came out many years ago, (changed their name to something else and don't think they are made any more) I bought it new and paid way too much for it. Over the years I bought two more for less than $30. One of them locked up after using it when building our house from dry wall dust. Took it apart and repaired it. Her son tried selling Kirby vacuum cleaners and I just laughed at him $1000. Didn't last long. Reminded me of the story of the guy just fresh from Kirby vacuum training school. Went out to sell one and first place he came to was a farm house with a nice painted fence, long drive way to the house, drive up, seen the kitchen door was open and a lady singing, baking a pie, barged right in, dumped two bags or dirt on the floor and said "mam, I am selling vacuum cleaners and if my vacuum cleaner doesn't pick this one pile of dirt up faster that what you are using, I will give it to you free. She walked over and got her corn broom out of the closet and a dust pan and in a couple of sweeps had it cleaned up, lickety split. Then she asked him to clean the other pile with his new machine. He looked around and said where is the plug in. She said we are Amish and don't have electricity."

My wife bought a Shark Rocket (no doubt from HSN or QVC) and it really works well. The one drawback on it is the small container size. You must dump after every use or it will end up getting clogged. does well with dog hair too.
