Vacuum cleaners - Oreck?

Wow! This thread is from 10 years ago. And since then, we too have gone to a Shark Rotator, with attachments, that we both like better than anything we've had in the past.

Same here- about 9 years on the Rotator now and still working well.
If it dies the new Shark APEX- Zero M Duoclean will be next.

Had a variety of vacs over the years and last year we bought a Dyson V10, it is without doubt the most powerful unit we have had and will run in excess of 30 minutes on a charge, no bags and very easy to use and clean, downside was the price but that is soon forgotten.
We bought a flexible head to get over and under things and a hose so I can vacuum the car, a lot of aftermarkets bits like that on ebay.
The V11 has recently been released and is claimed to be 20% more powerful but costs a bit more at almost $1200.00.
Came with 4 heads one of which is a reversible brush/nozzle and two rotating brush heads that even cleans our big 2" pile rug that our dog gets lost in (Chinese Crested, no hair).
These are becoming very popular here.

I currently have three vacuums. An Oreck, an exceptionally heavy Miele and a rechargeable GTeck. They all do a great job. I especially like the GTeck. It's very light weight - easy to clean - does an exceptional job on volcanic ash and dog hair.

Volcanic ash will eventually be the ultimate downfall of all three. It gets into the motor/bearings and will grind things to bits. I rotate using the three. Probably will last as long as I need.

Tell me about it oosik . . . I remember where I lived when Mt. St. Helens went off . . . we lived on Mt. Tabor in Portland at the time w/swimming pool . . . that ash is some nasty stuff.

No Rainbow fans in here? My parents had one that lasted damm near 50 years. I bought one when I built my house 30 years ago, and yep, still going strong. I also use a Tineco A10 cordless stick for the quickie clean-ups. I highly recommend both.

Our house is all hardwood floors. I bought a Milwaukee cordless backpack vacuum for Christmas. It works great for our needs, although pricey. I can run through the entire house in 30 minutes.

I currently have three vacuums.

oosik, I've got 4. Besides the Shark which is our primary household vacuum, I have a hand held Black & Decker dustbuster that I used to vacuum the car floors until Bucc-ee's opened up close to us with the darnedest car wash, vacuum, etc. that I've ever seen. My third one is my 12 gallon Craftsman shop vac, and the fourth one is my wife's Eureka Quick Up that stays just outside the kitchen door into the garage, for minor small jobs.

We had/have a LG robot vac but it is more trouble than its worth. It wore out the gears withinin 12 months and was repaired under warranty but I got sick of dismantling it to clean it properly all the time so it got packed away. Battery is probably toast by now.
We bought a Wertheim and the switch went on fire. They replaced the machine and the second one blew up! Absolute junk.
We bought a cheap vac from Kmart and so far it is the best performer we have had.

Only experience with an Oreck was that it was a piece of junk.

Got a Shark a few years back and we love it. No bags and good suction.
I did buy some extra filters off ebay so when they need changing I put a clean ones in and clean the others at my leisure. Takes less than 5 minutes to clean all three.
