Welding Table Clamp

I had a bunch of drill press clamps around that I NEVER use so today I cut the hold down bolt off one.

Drilled a 5/8” hole in a small piece of flat bar

And cut a short length of 5/8” round stock

I’ve used the same concept using sliding arm clamps.

Some of my neighbours were having a fund raising event for some obscure cause and they had this box of hammers tagged at $20.

I wasn’t really interested but it seemed to have followed me home anyway. Look close and you will see it even included a couple of those tools for removing ROUNDED DRAIN PLUGS!

If the drain plug wasn’t round you could probably sure make it round with those tools. :D

On the subject of clamps I made a couple of hold down clamps for my anvil using old tire lug nut wrenches.

A light tap sets it tight and a slightly heavier tap releases the hold.

A close up of the notches I cut in the lug nut end.

They can also be used on thinner welding table tops with the aid of an extended bushing.

Speaking of anvils. Mine is mounted on a plate welded to a 6" pipe welded to a steel truck wheel. In my first shop the floor was only 3.5". I spyder webbed the concrete where the anvil sat. In my second shop floor was 5". No problem.

Tremendous amount of shock is transmitted into the concrete when using a BFH on an anvil.

Richard, I believe this has your name on it.

Good plan, Kyle.

On my stationary mounted valves I either remove the safety latch

or tie it off.

The above valves pictured have an exhaust port. When placed in the OFF position, all air pressure DOWNSTREAM is exhausted relieving pressure on lines and facilitating easy coupler/tool removal.

This is a really cool concept. Looking at Green Line fittings, are these the valves designated as “brass bleed ball valve”?
