It was such a promising start to the day, with the sun streaming through the window. Why did I have to spoil it by looking at the forecast ? A glance at the rain radar map suggests the predicted continuous rain will soon arrive. I better get out again while I can, the laptop screen shows that soaking is only a few pixels away !

Drew, sorry to hear how another of your kind acts was not to be. Hope you can cheer up Miss Daisy a little.

RNG, there must be many others in your area who are now making plans to be self sufficient for electricity now the utility company has proved to be so unreliable and incompetent. Quite incredulous that "preemptive power outages" are going to become the norm.

Best chance of turning it around if you can get enough people together is to create lots of bad publicity for those in office each time they turn off the power. Something different each time, so they dread it happening. e.g the media is always hungry for news stories, feed them some, like an article on the decline in the state's tourism " "Visit California - but bring your own generator", followed up with lots of humerus social media comments on how this needs an update How to Pack for a Trip to California. It could be fun coming up with different stunts :)

How does a Northern Californian turn on a light?

First start a generator, then flip a switch, silly.:D

Well, Eric, you'd think an approach like what you've suggested would be quite popular. But when the gummint passed abusive gasoline and auto license taxes last year, people just laid back and took it. Nary a whimper. One of The Gubinator's big planks that led to his election as governor was a repeal of such taxes. I think people here are so beat down just trying to deal with the aftermath of the fires, and now the daily threat of new ones, that they just don't have time to waste on petty politics. I know that's how I feel.

68 degrees this morning, going for a mostly cloudy 80 degrees. That fast moving front that went through here yesterday shortly after noon blew a few leaves off the trees, but nothing serious. My gauge got about .28" of rain while the airport 10 miles from here reported .51". But our weather folks say some places had 60 mph winds, and in Dallas, a construction crane blew down on an apartment building killing at least one person and injuring several others.

The forecast is for pretty good weather the rest of this week. Our younger daughter hopes to move Thursday so we hope the weather stays nice.

Drinking second cup of coffee 66° with rain this morning. Heading to 67° with rain ending in afternoon. Looks like my day will spent call tech support to get my main computer up and running. Did a recommended BIOS update. Windows will not boot. Been a long time since I have had to get one running after a reboot failure. Wife's Apple Watch died yesterday. Front lens separated from main frame. Looks like I need take it to Apple Store to get it repaired you. Good day to do those kinds of projects.

Randy and Buckeye, get better. Prayers sent

Drew sorry about club president passing. May she RIP.

RNG, sad the way your state government has forgotten their citizens. Hope you get a solar system soon.

Good Morning All.

67 going to 82.

The drizzle turned to hard rain and ran me back inside. But got the birds fed and the rain gauge emptied and watched the Carolina wrens at a nest inside an empty plant pot just inside my barn door at eye level. A different pair have nested in an old creel basket on our front porch by the front door. They are determined to keep me inside.

Buppies, we didn't get as much rain as you, although it drizzled all day yesterday.

Wow, Kyle, sounds like your son went through misery if it hurt worse than a hornet or yellow jacket sting. I'll be on the look out for assassins...at least they are just bugs.

Did you northern Rocky Mtn guys get any more snow?

Good morning! Cloudy and 94˚ before sunrise, wait it's been 94˚ for a few days, might need to check the batteries.

Yesterday evening the neighborhood sirens went off and the coyotes started howling, there was a tornado on the ground ten miles away heading toward us. It never appeared but it sounded like a freight train outside. We got 1.5" of rain with the wind. There was not a cloud in the sky and 97˚F 30 minutes before the warning.

Kyle, I did not know that those bugs bite, tell your son thanks for the warning!!!!

Kyle it looks like your local hospital is looking for taxpayers to bail them out of the 14 million in debt and have a taxing hospital district like Houston if they want the hospital to stay open. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the vote this week.

Don, I would vote for a small tax for a hospital district. We are in a medical desert here. It would fall on every property owner to pay a little. I can only guess why they have such a debt. There are many without insurance in these parts.
