Amsoil HD 5W40?

Another amsoil fanboy here. Not quite sure how I got into it...think a friend recommended it years ago. I use it in all my equipment with exception of small stuff (log splitters, pressure washer, etc). They get NAPA brand oil each spring.

I do my F150 every 18 months. Probably overkill considering how low miles it gets...but I like doing it, and plan to keep that truck forever, so it provides peace of mind.

I drive my VW TDI 25k+ a year. Do that oil every 10k. Again probably overkill with amsoil synthetic but it's nearing 200k mikes now...oil is cheap insurance in my opinion. I run Mann oil filters in the Jetta with the amsoil oil.

I enjoy just getting on their website and ordering my oil changes, I generally have every next oil change ordered sitting on the shelf way in advance.

I have used their grease too and really like it but with all the stuff I grease nowadays (tractor, excavator, dump truck, zero turn, and more) it just got too expensive. Tractor supply grease for me.

What did it for me was I worked VERY, VERY hard to find an oil better than Amsoil. I was a 20 year skeptic.
I fought being a Amsoil fanboy with everything I had.
I went throught them all, Roya Purplr, Mobil 1, Penzoil, Motul, Castrol,
Redline and I'm sure a half dozen more.
I was convinced there was that one oil that was the best.
After using them all I always came back to Amsoil adn then after 20 years
I gave up and now will only buy Amsoil.

I'm glad the people that use Walmart cooking grease in their engines
and change their oil every 7 days works for them but I just don't have that kind of time.

I like to change and forget. When I get around to it in a year or do I'll change the oil
and when I send it in for testing they tell me I still have like in the oil and could keep using
it.

What funny over the years listening to all the nay sayers about oil over 40 years, some of the best ones.
(This was a HUGE things years ago)

NEVER put sythetic oil in a new engine the rings won't seat properly.
Then BMW, Corevette came from the factory with synthetics.

Next best, I don't buy Amsoil because it's multilevel marketing.
( like it was a cult) This lasted even today. It doesn't matter to anyone with a brain
to see that when you order DIRECT from Amsoil on the internet there are no
evil "middlemen"

I don't care what anyone uses I know what's worked for me. I'm not a dealers
I don't get paid by Amsoil, I'm a reluctant fanboy and proud of it.

" There is no return on investment using Amsoil outside of self-satisfaction, and there is nothing wrong with that."

I beg to differ.

Three quick points on Amsoil.
1- I had an 80's Kubots with one oil chnage in 15 years I quart every few years replacement same filter. I had a Ford SUV that was a dealer buyback so I vowed never to spend a dime on that vehicle till they replaced it. It went 60K miles in three years with one Amsoil oil change and two quarts replenished.

2- Dealer changed my oil without asking me on a truck I had only used Amsoil in because it was part of the service plan I purchased. After I picked the vehicle up It ran noisier, rougher and did not run a smooth almost like a diiferent vehicle. I looked at the paperwork and noticed the oil change, I immediated dumped whatever they put in and replaced it with the Amsoil I've been using and the truck returned to normal.

3 - A few months ago I gave in with everyone here touting Rotella so I gave in and changed my current Kubota with Rotella from Amsoil. Instantly all the symptoms I experienced with my Ford SUV retued to the Kubota. Just like before I dumped it out and out in Amsoil and the tractor runs smooth ahgain. I'll never experiment again twice is enough for me.

My equipment runs in 120 degree temps plus for the entire summer months and using Amsoil and my equipment runs much cooler in these temps.

It is a useless argument. If what you say is true then Amsoil would be the only oil provider left because the rest of us would have worthless piles of junk due to poor performing lubricants.

At this moment, my RAM Cummins, and three of my Kubotas are running T6 (found a good price on T6 over the winter). I notice absolutely no difference in performance or engine noise over other oil brands I've used.

....AND THE WINNER IS...........

You do realize these tests are of extreme conditions real-world use would never come close to seeing thus making the video more about entertainment than usage information, don't you?

$33.00 per gallon plus tax, shipping and handling. That's for their lowest priced oil for diesels. On top of that, you're paying for oil analysis. Here's an alternative... Buy fair priced quality oil for half that price and change annually with no analysis. That's what I do, and have easy starting, smooth quiet running engines, and have never had an engine oil related repair or failure of any kind. You have to do what makes you comfortable, and there is no right or wrong answer to these oil debates. Some of us like to spend our money on oil, and others like to spend it on other things.

With amsoil being close to 4x the price of rotella i would expect 4x the performance. Im not sure how you get 4x the performance out of oil but i sure as **** wouldnt extend the oil change inerval to 4x what the manufacture says.

All of my things get an oil change at least once a year. Some vehicles thats 1,500mi some thats 100hrs. I use rotella t6 in almost everything. Its cheap and compatable with alot of my vehicles/equipment. I also buy oil filters by the case.

Synthetic beats conventional oil every time.
Most engine wear is on start up and synthetic oils provide better start up lubrication than conventional oils in all conditions.
If you are running an air cooled engine the higher break down temp of synthetic lube is added protection.

I run Mobil 1 in everything and have never had a wear or engine failure from mowers , MC's , cars, truck's , etc.
Amsoil is excellent oil , just not readily available and its why I use Mobil 1.

Some truth to that, if the add packs are equal. But there are synthetics that have mediocre add packs and some conventional that have killer add packs. Making them essentially the same thing. The add pack makes up to 20% of a motor oil. Surprisingly, molybdenum in an add pack can do as much to mitigate start up wear as any synthetic.

Like our 2006 Cadillac CTS. GM says it should use M1 5w30. All it has gotten is Pennzoil conventional 10w30. And if you looked at the testing results done by the Petroleum Quality Institute of America on many oils including these two mentioned, you would understand why I use the Pennz in the vehicle and not the M1. Many good reasons I use it, but one is it has at least 3x the level of moly in the oil compared to M1.

Going to run PUP 5W20 in my JKU - have heard great things about it including higher detergent levels.
