Yep, keeping vehicle titles up to date has long been a problem. And one that I had lots of experience with many years ago.

I was a senior in high school when I very briefly had an old Pontiac (in my Dad's name). I sold it for $50 and Dad signed the title and gave it to the buyer. The buyer said he had one of the same model with a blown engine. The one I sold him had a good engine; bad transmission. Several months later, I got out of school one evening, went to work at the service station and Dad told me the chief of police had come by with some kind of inquiry about that old Pontiac and Dad told him I was the only one who ever drove it. Sure enough, the chief showed up in just a few minutes, and it seemed the title was still in Dad's name, and that Pontiac had been used as a getaway car in a burglary. The chief asked me if ever saw the car and I told him I saw it go by nearly every day, so he asked me to call if I saw it. Sure enough, the next day it went by; stood out like a sore thumb, white over green with white fender skirts. So I called the chief and he caught the guy before he got to the next town north of us.

Dallas used to have a citizens group that mailed post cards to the registered owners of cars they saw committing a traffic violation; no penalty of course. I once got one of the letters that said my car was seen speeding in Dallas on a certain date and time and location. It was a car that I had traded in to a dealer a couple of months earlier.

One of my jobs as a police captain in the '70s included the Dallas auto pound where we sold an average of 125 cars a week; auction every Monday morning. Most of them badly wrecked of course and were sold to salvage yards. But I had 2 clerks whose only job was to send a certified letter to the "registered" owner of each vehicle telling them that we would sell it on a certain date if they didn't claim it before then. We found that more than 40% of the vehicles no longer belonged to the "registered" owner. Back then I knew the man in charge at the state and he told me one of their never met goals was to get the registration records up to date and correct in 40% of the cases.

In the 1960s, I once bought a NEW motorcycle from a Dallas dealer; paid cash for it. But after several months and no title, I found Dallas County had sent a large shipment of title applications to the state in the U.S. mail and they had disappeared. So I went to the state office and applied for a duplicate title and got lt. I eventually received the original title, so now I've got two valid titles for the same bike. And when I later traded that bike in to a dealer for a bigger one, I gave him both titles and told him why I had two. It was many months later when I got a letter from the state saying that I had two titles for the same bike and to mail one of them to the state. I sent a letter telling them what I'd done with the titles and never heard anything more from them.

I think Texas has gotten those kinds of problems corrected now, but when I sell or trade a motor vehicle, I promptly notify the state.

Went to TSC to get propane, they were out. That was almost a wasted hr, i did take 2 gas cans for the mower.

6 hrs on ZT, need to change oil at 8 hrs.

Got home, checked tractor hydro fluid, it was right on the full mark. So mowed half of the field a 2nd time. Had no problem coming up the steepest hill. Not sure why i had a problem saturday.

BEF, have you checked your local Walmart? Their propane tank exchange is about $15 here.

You might check with your dealer on 1st oil change. 8 hours seems short. My ZD1211 suggested first OC was at 50 hours.

Dealer said 8 hrs and the manual says 8 hrs. It does not say to change the filter, but i am. After this it says change oil every 100 hrs, filter every 200.

Gas station had propane exchange for $20, tsc $10 to fill. TSC said they should get more tomorrow, just ran out today. They called other TSC, theirs is down due to leak in a hose.
I dont want to take tanks to work in subaru, and dont want to drive truck to work, so have to come home first, then go.

I teach a bible class wed night, not prepared yet, so propane will wait.

Good evening all. 64F for the start, calm wind overcast sky. Sky began to clear about noon, wind stayed low, high temp was 87F. Choir practice to start, then into putter mode, cleared several issues off my desk. Nice nap, still have more jobs to finish.
Don, the Easter bike ride I went to this year started in Fredricksburg at the high school the first day.
David nice scenery.
RNG sounds like a fun weekend ride.Hope you finish the sprinkler soon.
Hawkeye good to know Dr.s are trying to watch the whole issue.
PJ, through the years STL has been know as a good baseball town, fans always respond to good baseball, regardless which side makes the play.
Drew hope you get the Jag issue resolved soon.
Prayers for all.

Our temperature was 81°F at 5 a.m., then dropped to 68°F by 8 a.m. with the front. We got 1" of rain. The temps rose to 83°F by mid day, then another drop to 72°F about 3 p.m. It just barely got to 80°F by sunset. Now it's a very comfortable 78°F on our East porch.

More rain predicted for early morning tomorrow.

I finally sorted out the Corvette electrical issue ..... I think.

To remind, I replaced a 7 year old AC Delco battery over the 2018 Christmas holiday. Most places were closed so, I went to Walmart and got a 550 CCA Group 75 battery with proper side terminals. It was fine until two weeks ago. I was going to move it out of the shop and it was completely dead, even though it had a Battery Tender maintainer connected since right after New Years. I hooked up my 200 amp charger / starter, got it started and took it to my regular shop. The Walmart 550 CCA battery tested at only 260 CCA after a one hour charge. The owner loaned me his service truck and I took the battery back to the Columbus Walmart along with the battery test printout. The battery was at 12.8 volts but, by the time I got to Walmart 20 minutes later, it was down to 1.6 volts. The Walmart Asst. Manager would not accept the previous test result and put it on their tester. To make a long story short, he had no clue about batteries and after spending over an hour there he declared the battery fine so ..... no warranty replacement of a 6 month old battery. So ... I took my battery, muttered it would be a dark day in he... before I'd buy another battery from Walmart and headed back to Weimar shop.

They couldn't get another AC Delco same day (Saturday) so we installed an Interstate 600 CCA battery. Ok, good. The Corvette started and I headed back to the ranch and parked it in the shop.

Last Monday, I needed to move the Corvette and it was again, completely dead. GROAN! I connected a charger and charged it for two hours, still no start, just clicking. I pulled the battery and charged it again then hooked up my own tester. It tested 240 CCA. Whuuuu? Took it back and it tested at 240 CCA. The shop got me an AC Delco 650 CCA .... for another swap. Installed it last Thursday and so far so good. Hard to believe you could be lucky enough to get two bad batteries in a row.

Have a nice evening! I know I am.

BTW .... Congratulations to USA Women's Soccer team! They bested Spain today 2-1. This was first goal scored against USA so far in a World Cup. I think they're now in semi-finals.

We got about an inch or so of rain, and slightly cooler weather like Don mentioned. Don, I might have to try that soil concoction. Molasses ehh?

Ron, chickens have multiple water stations. Almost always one in the shade at different times of day. They don't drink real often.

On my feet most of the day at work. It's crunch time for satellite parts. Only have a couple of simple parts left on the list, but the list keeps moving....

You can bet if the governments figured they were losing money to title data latency, (which they really are), that it would be fixed ASAP.

They were having a big water rights bill trying to get past/passed....our Governor nixed it. A lot of small landowners like ourselves are happy.

RNG, sounds like you had a really good trip and were able to help some guys out. I'll bet the dealerships are a bit jealous, since y'all are taking all those $100/hour labor jobs from them.

My buddy bought a new Platinum F150 truck in 2018. He only uses it for some pleasure travel, so it only has about 8000 miles on it. He finally told me the sticker said about $68K, and he paid about $58K for it. Today, I heard on the radio the Ford dealer in Tomball Texas offering up to $20K off select F150's and possible 0% for 72 months. Sounds like a good time to buy a truck....but not me, I can build a big barn for that. to each their own.

Prayers for BEF, Bupps, Randy, LS and Jay's knees, Hawk's daughter's eyesight, and for those who are quiet about their needs. Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm ready to hit the hay.

POM, huh? We used to call others the same name as the Brits use for a cigarette. But not PC anymore.

Have a great night all.

I was told long ago, if you put a 12 volt small bulb inline between your battery and it's first connection, if it lit, you had drainage??? Is there any truth to this? Need our electrical gurus to chime in.

I put my amp meter between the faulty Interstate battery negative terminal and the disconnected negative battery cable and measured 3.63 amps with everything off.

Kyle, this duplicated your "light bulb" test.

With the new AC Delco Battery I measure 0.00 amps.

Guess my 4 years at University of Houston paid off?

I'll bet the dealerships are a bit jealous, since y'all are taking all those $100/hour labor jobs from them..

The newest of our bikes left the dealerships in '95, and very few dealers will work on them anymore because their techs never got the training. Personally, I don't trust any BMW dealerships with one, except perhaps Ozzie's here in Chico, that has ONE mechanic that worked for the original owner and has the necessary skill set. But the good news is that almost everything needed can be done by an owner once someone shows them how. There are still independent mechanics and machinists that can handle the heavy lifting like engine rebuilds, transmissions, etc., and enough of the bikes still on the road to keep them busy.

So take me to school and teach me how that could be, Rick.

Seems like the only way current could flow through your meter is if there was continuity through the wiring harness back to the positive terminal, regardless of whether or not one or more cells were internally shorted.:confused2:

A Battery Tender won't keep up with a 3.6 amp drain; at least the ones I have won't. And expecting to cram 200 amp/hours back into a battery in just an hour seems pretty optimistic; wouldn't that rate of charge damage the battery? I hope you did find the problem, but I would run a load test on that battery in a few days just to make sure.

72 outside this AM. Heading to lower 90's today. Thunderstorms just rolled through so I got up. Probably a good day for lawn duties and moving stuff around. Wife wants a loafing shed down so I get to move firewood and junk out of it. It has no purpose anyway as we don''t have anything that loafs here. Lol.
Have a great day all. Be safe.

good morning all.
a very warm 76 here, not quite as hot as Texas but a warm morning, headed up to 93.

unlike Roy, coming week looks pretty dry and hot. Looks like I'll be back to watering.
But not the lawn, it's growing just fine without any more help.

Most fun course I took at college was Electronics 101 aka Shocks For Jocks. Wonderful professor, was there eventually for almost 50 years
and revered(they named a big new Engineering Building after him), taught me the fun part of electronics, had to build an AM radio for a test.
Instilled the interest in me later on to buy and run a Radio Shack
for five years. I still love electronics but five years inside those retail walls was all I could do.
A triac Sir? Yes, we have a assortment of them. The functionality of some of what I sold was way over my pay grade, triacs, Variacs,
variable potentiometers, thermistors, but at least I know a dangerously small amount. So much has gone to IC integrated circuitry today, but I guess folks will still be trying to decipher the color bands on resistors til the cows come home.

Always thought resistors were like older socket sets, could never figure out the number on them.
today's socket sets have great big numbers on them. Resistors?...

Good morning, it's pouring with rain here, although fortunately we managed to get lambs off to market before it came down heavy. One advantage of the livestock market in Shrewsbury starting earlier in the day than the market that closed.

Jim calling me a plain "Pom" is a term of endearment ;).
I would only get worried if he used it with a few Viking verbs, or worst of all, called me a "Whinging Pom" :)

Rick, current flowing with one battery terminal disconnected only makes sense if the plastic battery casing was leaking and not insulating it from the vehicle chassis. Could you see any defects ?
