Dont know if its feasible but you could take it to a heavy equip dealer and see if they could push it out with their track press. Track pins require an unbelievable amount of pressure to come loose. They have portable ones on their service trucks also. If a track press wont remove it then youll have to cut it out.

The one we borrow is 120 ton... used for anything from 323 to 6015 sized machines

The situation could be worse. At least you don’t have a rounded drain plug.....

Exothermic Cutting, Ok that's a first for me, guess it's been around a while but I never heard of it, does look like a way to remove frozen pins in less time, but at what cost...........[/url]

Quite economical actually.

If he were to come to me the cost would be a case of beer. Which I WOULD HOLD (btw) while he used the lance.

Thanks for clarifying. I just wanted to confirm and no offence was intended.

The drill approach might work if the hole was large enough but I am doubtful.

The exothermic lance would be the best solution if you could find someone to do it for you. IMO of course.

No offense taken- I appreciate the help.

I have fixed some of them by welding a nut to 'em.

Thanks!

There is actually a heavy equipment repair place up the road about a mile that does dozers, graders, etc. I hadn't thought of them but might end up taking it up there and see if they can get the pin out. I want to try a few more things myself first- because I am hard headed, and don't like giving up

I can see why. I usually end up getting burned with a welder and cutting torch. I can’t imagine how many one of those or an air gouge must suck.

I have cut out big pins with O/A torch... blowing in a blind hole just is messy, wear plenty of clothing to stop the slag splatters coming back at you.
