2015 Kioti CK4010HST
Planning the collection of my Kioti 4010 this week. It has a FEL, Backhoe and 60" rotary cutter. I figure I can use the loader to put the cutter in the bed of the truck, but how long of a trailer will I need for the tractor and backhoe? Images of something loaded with trailer lengths would be very helpful. I can rent an 18' equipment trailer, but don't own one yet.

Thanks

I hauled a lot of all different kinds of equipment for years and I'll tell you I bought to small to begin with. 18ft isn't enough.. I found a 20 footer to be of much more use. What are you towing it with? Trailers are like buildings, you never seem to have enough room..

I think 20 would be enough with some wiggle room, but was hoping for a couple people to post up a pic of that setup or similar.

I have plenty of truck to tow it.

Someone probably will... My vote goes to 20ft..

Search the forum there have been a couple of threads on this question and pics were included.

The problem with selecting a trailer with a tape measure is few people add 3 or 4 feet to the length of the load so it can be shifted fore or aft to balance the trailer and get the tongue weight right.

What Rick said.

I bought my 18ft trailer based upon my father's 16ft being to small. But I purchased shortly after buying my L2501 and assumed that the Kubota and John Deere were close in overall dimensions.

So with rotary or finish mower & loader, I can barely fit the machine on my new trailer.

Don't be like me.

we pulled my NX 5510 with a backhoe and a 7Ft bush hog back on a 20 Ft equipment trailer, it barely fit, the NX is a little longer body than the CK so I think a 20Ft would work fine. if you are putting the BH in the truck bed you might could get by with a couple feet shorter but I still think if you can swing a 20Ft I would go with that personally. Mine has loaded Ag tires set to the widest width which I believe measured 83.5 inches on a 84 inch wide trailer It was a tight fit

I have an 18' for my CK3510SE loader with forks plus a John Deere ballast box on the rear that weights about 1000 lbs. I have to back the tractor on the trailer. If I pull it on, the weight is too far back.
You need at least a 20' with a backhoe.

Though I know it is nice to keep the loader bucket flat on the deck, I don't always do that.
I have a 9500lb. Superwinch mounted on the trailer, and sometimes curl the bucket mostly over the winch (keeps the winch dry under the bucket too).
This method allows me an extra 2-1/2' for balancing the load, to help get the correct tongue weight.
I have my 20' deck marked for positioning various loads, to achieve the proper tongue weight.

Here's my NX5010 on my 20' trailer. If you are going to buy a trailer, I would not go any shorter than 20'. If you are renting and choices are limited you could get buy with 18' but space for adjusting tongue weight will be limited.

This is a 24” trailer but it’s not very often I’d want to haul 2 loose implements and a bush hog on the back. Even if you did want to do that you could put the loader over the top of them. I’ve hauled the same tractor on a 16’ trailer. With the bucket sitting flat on the deck the bush hog sticks off the back and if I’m using the box blade instead it fits on with a foot to spare. If you’ve got a flat bed truck sitting the cutter in it would be fine but it’s not a good plan for a regular bed truck. I like having a trailer light enough to move the hitch by hand. It makes hooking it up much easier. My 5500 pound pintle hook trailer definitely doesn’t fit the bill.

You all have convinced me. A twenty foot trailer is a minimum!

Get a 24' trailer. I regret purchasing a 20' trailer.

When I upgraded to a larger tractor I sold my 7K 20' tilt bed and bought a 14K 22' PJ tilt bed. Actual deck length including the knife edge is 23' and it gives me plenty of room to adjust the load fore and aft for better balance no matter what 3 pt. attachment I have on at the time. Go for the longer trailer.

You're close by me (I'm near Binghamton) Do you find the tilt bed more useful/safer than a dovetail or ramps?

Mind if I ask what you paid and where you bought it?

Exactly... pick your size and then add 2 feet. It won't make a difference to the tow vehicle, but it let's you move the equipment around to balance the weight front to back better.

My current and last trailer were tilt beds. Non tilt are much cheaper. I went with tilt beds because of a shoulder injury and could no longer lift ramps by hand. Since I bought my first tilt bed I'll never go back to a non tilt even without any injuries. So much easier and faster to load vehicles. I bought my PJ down toward you in Cortland. The dealer is just off 81 on Rte 11. I'll send you a PM.

What? What kind of truck are you hauling with? Fitting a dangling HD cutter into and out of a pickup bed sounds like a recipe for disaster. Just put it on the front of your trailer, under the front loader of the tractor.
