My current and last trailer were tilt beds. Non tilt are much cheaper. I went with tilt beds because of a shoulder injury and could no longer lift ramps by hand. Since I bought my first tilt bed I'll never go back to a non tilt even without any injuries. So much easier and faster to load vehicles. I bought my PJ down toward you in Cortland. The dealer is just off 81 on Rte 11. I'll send you a PM.

Loaded the CK4010 onto a buddy's 20' non-dovetail trailer last night and it lifted the rear wheels of his 2018 F350 diesel 2' in the air! Scary couple of seconds which committed me to buying a tilt trailer. Thank God he had the truck locked in 4WD.

A little experience and a $20 pair of jack stands and you could have loaded safely.

Yep. Experience obtained after that little deal. Used some blocking when we unloaded and had no issues.

On my 10' 2 wheel trailer loading a heavy garden tractor with all the weights, I put 6x6 blocks under mine but the trailer moved a little bit off the blocks and the rear of the trailer come down like a ton of bricks. It unhooked from the truck and got my attention.

If your trailer came unhooked from the truck while parked that was a good thing. Something was very wrong and you (and anyone else on your route) avoided a larger problem on the road.

What? What kind of truck are you hauling with? Fitting a dangling HD cutter into and out of a pickup bed sounds like a recipe for disaster. Just put it on the front of your trailer, under the front loader of the tractor.
I was thinking the same thing.
I have never seen a rotary cutter it the bed of a pickup.

For a couple dollars more they should have added a pair of rear swing down jacks. I can load my tractor or mini excavator on to my 18' trailer with ramps even without the truck hooked to the trailer.

Yes it can be done...

When I hauled my tractor in the dump trailer there was no room for my 6' brush cutter. I put two 2x6 boards across the pickup box and set the brush cutter on those. Cut blocks to fit against the truck bed on the under side and against the brush cutter top side. Strapped it in place with 3 10K ratchet straps. Worked great.

I’ve hauled a 5’ cutter in regular bed pickup once and it was a tight squeeze. I wouldn’t want to do it on routine basis. Hauling a cutter on a flatbed truck or dump bed would be a breeze.

Just so you can see what a CK4010, loader, backhoe and 6' cutter looks like loaded on a 20' (and I mean exactly 20' long) trailer. Towed like nothing was back there. Helps when you have 1200 ft lbs of torque.

How are you loading & unloading that brush hog ??

Probably with the backhoe arm and that yellow sling around the gear box but I think you’d need a helper to keep it from swinging.

I would assume that also.

A backhoe is handy beyond belief.
Particularly...... one that can do REAL work.

Can't tell if this is a positive post or a slam against small backhoes! Well done.

I bought a JD 2305 TLB when I bought my house 13 years ago, I did a ton of stuff with the little 260, it took a long time to get things done but it did everything I asked it to and was fun to boot.. I sold the whole machine a few years later and bought something newer without a backhoe, I have rented an excavator a couple of times since..

Small backhoes have there place.. In the right environment they can be very useful..
