Finally got the ZD1211 72" rear discharge and mowed with it for about 30 minutes. I now keep a leaf blower on my porch and blow off all mowers after using. The F and Zs. Not a single blade of grass on the vent screens after the short mowing but about a cup full of grass clippings on the top of the mowing deck which I blew off with blower. Not a single blade of grass blew on me either.:) I looked at the rear of the deck and noticed it has what look like small down angled strips of what may be heavy rubber that look factory installed. I'm thinking earlier rear discharge decks just had straight opening across the back for discharge and almost positivesince I made my own down flap with truck mud flap on my old deck.
I know 30 minutes of mowing is no test but just telling what I got in the time I tried it.

JT, as I recall, Brown Dog trimmed the rubber flap on his rear discharge, then finally removed it completely to reduce windrowing.

I've not modified my ZD1211-72" RD and am not having issues with clippings. After a short time with the Kubota OEM blades I've switched over to Oregon G6 Gator Mulching Blades (396-814). They made a big difference with clipping size.

YMMV.

If u mow often enough : the RD deck with stock rubber flaps doesn稚 windrow.

Thick / Wide blades of grass seems to windrow a lot worse.

I did completely remove all 3 rubber flaps & turn the two metal guards upside down so they壇 turn up & not deflect any clippings.

This really helped my windrowing, but it still does a little bit if / when you let grass get too tall / thick.

I think the F series with RD decks has metal deflectors across rear of deck.

Yes, that is correct.

See a photo of my 72" replacement deck shell being worked on:

I’d be removing that :D

Instead of removing, how about re-mowing more often?

I mow 8-9hrs every week on 72” Zero NOT counting my 10’ Bush Hogging.

I don’t have time to mow anymore often :D

My grandson has stopped most "wind rowing", side discharge term which is a cut row of grass build up caused by grass clippings blowing out into a built up row of cut grass :). Anyway, he mows more often than I do thus just leaving a sometimes noticed cut 40" to 50" wide row of grass clippings that disappear by the next day as they become my yards only fertilizer. When I was doing all the mowing when it always had gotten to high (Per my wife) I'd have a bit of noticeable width of cut grass clippings that had always disappeared within two days. I guess the moral of the story is to mow every day and you won't have noticeable built up grass clippings with any type deck. :cool2:
Thanks for info concerning actual hands on experience with other than Kubota dealer sold replacement blades. Cost and purchase point is always good info to have shared from someone.

I’m getting best pricing, on Gator blades, on EBay.
