Tractor
MF GC1705, Cub Cadet RZTL, Husqvarna Rider.
Well I went back and after a lot of talking I bought a GC1705 with FEL and 60 inch MMM and then I bought a 60inch back blade and a 48inch box blade, all said and done it was just under 16k for it all.
They had a 1715 on the lot but I decided the 22.5 hp would be fine and the salesman figured it would work ok for what I need it to do and with the difference I can afford the Bush Hog 48 tiller in a few weeks so I値l be all setup to work my property.
I値l post picks when I get the 1705 home, they need to fit the MMM on it and then I can pick it all up, probably later this week.

It will be interesting to see if I can disconnect the mid pto shaft, I had to lay on the ground just to see under the tractor because of my disability I can not just kneel down and look under the tractor like normal which is one of the reasons I was considering a 3 point finishing mower, would be much easier, just have to see how it goes with the MMM.
I’m going to pick up the Box blade and Back blade tomorrow and the tractor and mower by Friday hopefully.

I just sold a 1705, good little tractor. I hope you aren't planning on taking the MMM on and off often, the driveshaft is a pain.. If you're place is wide open I would opt for the finish mower..

It’s all open and basically flat, I wanted to stay at 60 inches wide and will see how it goes the rest of this year and maybe next year I’ll invest in a used 60” finishing mower and see how it works with the 22.5hp motor/18.3 pto, seen them used for around 1k and if it doesn’t work selling it will not be a issue around here, most recommend at least a 25hp engine but I’ve seen a couple less expensive ones that say up to 40 hp and in the reviews I read a few reply’s were using 18 and 20 hp tractors with the 60” with no issues.

Right now I’m mowing with a Cub Cadet 54inch RZTL every Thursday except if it’s raining so this 60inch MMM should be a welcome treat plus the ride alone is going to be nice compared to the Cadet, the Cadet will still get used for my ditch sides.

The 1705 has more PTO hp than most 25hp tractors. I ran a 60inch delmorino finish mower and it ran it fine..

I’ve done a bit more looking at the finishing mowers and I don’t know what I was thinking, got my wires crossed or something but the 1705 would handle most 60” finishing mowers out there, maybe I was thing of the brush hog used for heavy overgrown areas, that would be a 48” for the 1705. All a teaching moment for me.

Yes I ran a 4ft bush hog and in heavy grass a 5ft would have been to much.. My aunt just bought a kubota with a MMM, she is pretty tough but she has a hard time with the hook up so she is returning it for a 3pth finish mower..

I’ll have to see how the MMM goes for me, they make it look so easy on all the videos I have watched and today when I picked up my attachments I even said to the salesman that the vids make it look easy and said if it isn’t doable for me will have to go another route, I’ll test it out at the dealership before we load it up on the trailer.

Woods, Bush Hog or a King Kutter would be ok. I know the Woods or a Bush Hog would be preferable but the King Kutter looks to be a nice unit.

Anyone have a opinion on any of these three, I’m limited on what’s available where I live so I would need to call around or hopefully find a used one on Craigslist if I decide to go that route.

Any one of them will work fine.. Sometimes you can find a used one in decent shape but they tend to get pretty beat up and I have looked a plenty of used ones with bad gear box's because the fluid was never changed and have little to no gear oil in them so if you look a used one, check the gear box and underside of it..

Gear box issues seems to be the most common issue with used ones I’ve come across. The add will say works good BUT gear box may need to be fixed or looked at, I move on when I see that. I looked at a older woods last week that was on craigslist and it looked ok in the pick but when I got there the tires were all flat and it looked abused so I passed.
I will never stop looking and I will keep my eye out for a used 48 inch tiller too.

I like buying used older things when I can, a lot of times they are built better, more rugged and if they have been taken care of you save a lot of money and have a better built unit..

Just got the call my GC1705 is all set up and ready for me to pick it up so it looks like next Saturday I’ll drive there sign papers and load it up. It’s in both our names so I have to wait for her next day off.

Nice, make sure you try that driveshaft, if it looks like it won't work well for you, that is the time to let them know, otherwise they might tell you it's used and can't swap out the MMM to a finish mower..

Good advice, I’ll do a twice over on the unit and I will also disconnect and reconnect that pto shaft a few times to make sure, I will also hook it up run mower, shut mower down and disconnect and reconnect a couple times, my salesmen knows I’m disabled and have limited upper body movements so he knows that I need a run through.

I wonder what the dealer would do if Saturday morning I told them I wanted the 1734e that they have instead of the 1705? After all I haven’t signed the papers yet hmmmmm wonder if he has a sense of humor?

Although I did tell the salesman last week that I planned on upgrading in a few years when our neighbor sells us his 40 acres.
