Brush has probably put more woods tractors out of commission than anything else. I try to keep on my brushed out trails, but it doesn't always work out that way.

That is what I was trying to do, just clear my long overgrown [15+ yrs roads.

A lot can grow up in 15 years, as you already know. ;)

ah, that huge bang and the wackety wackety wackety sound of something expensive coming apart...
The one's that you hear often cost you much less, as you know that something went wrong. That dangling transmission filter on the other hand...

Spent about a day and a half cutting the second crop of hay. Will certainly be lower yield than the first cut but it's already sold so I'm hoping for lots. In between cutting the lower/upper fields I hauled the tractor down to the SLC area and spread 36 yards of topsoil for my son who is putting in a new yard. That did not take long but it sure would have using a wheelbarrow.

Today, the Big Plan is to work on the new tractor's home improvements. I'm adding an interior dividing wall to my pole barn, to isolate the bay where the tractor lives. This will include augering little footings for 5 upright timbers which anchor wall sections or support my I-beam with trolley and chain hoist for managing attachments. Thus I'll be putting my old auger on this tractor for the first time, and drilling with the electric clutch for the first time (I hope I do OK without having a slip clutch, but am pretty sure there can't be any living roots down there any more). I'll also take off the 800 lb ballast box for the first time since I filled it with concrete and steel, which should be fine, and at some point will want to put it back on, which might be pretty difficult. I wish the job I'm doing was already done, so I could handle heavy attachments with the equipment I'm erecting.

I did get to use the Front End Unloader yesterday when I came home with 6 bags of concrete mix in my station wagon. They're in my bucket now, and I intend to pull them out one by one wherever I need to mix.

Just curious, how many acres there do you hay and how many of what kind of bales do you get out of it? I have a little 10 acre hayfield the guy up the street hays and gets about 15-20 bales a couple times a year. Your place just looks so expansive!! Looks nice too.

Thursday evening I attempted to move some dirt for my shop project and the bucket would barely lift anything, thought it was just low on hydraulic fluid since it was leaking so I added a quart to the reservoir, still would barely lift anything so had to be belt, got one yesterday, it of course has a lower radiator hose going through it so drained the coolant and changed it. Loader worked great again, good enough to blow one of the hydraulic hoses coming out of the loader valve misting me and the whole right side of the rear of the tractor in UTF... Considering it is an outgoing hose and it didn't stop spraying until I shut the tractor down I think the valve is leaking internally...

Project looking good! Nice job..

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of it. I started with a trencher, but the soil is way too rocky so I switched to the mini-ex. I didn't want to move that much dirt, but it went really quickly. I'm pleased with both the straightness and the level depth (18 inches for the electric).

We hadn't planned on working at the farm today because of the storms, but we all went out to check on it after the storms and the ground was basically dry. So, we got out the tractors and went to work.

It has been a great for the family. After several years of health issues with my mother and grandmother, who both passed away, having these fun times as a family with multi-generations is a great thing. I think dad is enjoying it the most and rightfully so, he has earned it after all the great care he provided to mom and grandma.

Got some seat time on my folk's porch looking out at the ocean.

Closest I got to a tractor was a neighbor raking and baling

Howling, great pics, love the ocean pic with breakers in distance.
I'd run into a tree not paying attention if I were mowing there...
I wonder how many hours that old Allis Chalmers has.
Not one of their sleekest designs, funny how high style comes and goes
in tractors.

Been working on a food plot last couple weeks. There was tons of debris from my bobcat bush hoggin' so I broke down and bought a used 6' Landscape rake. Got the plot cleaned up real nice.

Sorry for the late reply, been kind of busy.

I have 31 acres and grow on maybe 30 of it. This year I baled 98 bales on the first cut. These were 3X4X8 bales, 1300 pounds. So far on the second cut I got 15 bales off the bottom field, I hope to get 30 on the top. Have not baled the top yet. 90% of the hay is Alfalfa with the rest being grass. It'a a nice hobby but I would not want to count on it for my bread/butter income. For that, much more land would be needed and bigger equipment than I have.

I've had a LOT of "seat time", thing is it was all on this old Sears garden tractor,

As my wife and myself, traveled to and camped for a week, at an old antique tractor/engine show...

Media Gallery – Buckley Old Engine Show

We went there a few days early, met up with a bunch of friends, and it was a fun week!
