Head West Not So Young Man 2

I didn't see that you're going in April, I thought it was in the next month or so. Most of the high Sierra passes are still closed in April. 80 from Tahoe to Sacramento is generally open all year except during storms. There can be ice and chain requirements. April is a good time to go through Death Valley. A little hot in the valley itself but fine on the mountains surrounding it.

In April you can still get pretty good snow storms in the high part of Arizona around Flagstaff.

The tour takes you in a 4X4 truck within a couple 100'. The walk inside the slots/canyons is less than 1/2 mile. Betty had no trouble doing the tour.

so much to see, the rock formations in Utah are simply amazing.
Going to go over my camera with a telephoto lens and make sure it's cleaned up and ready to go.
Easier to take pic with point and shoot camera vs phone. Always one hand on the wheel...

friend sent me this link, fun to learn about Route 66, a road I want to spend some time on.
But not buying the 72 ounce steak at The Big Texan. Rather have quality vs quantity.
Tenderloin is of course tender, but I'd rather have more flavor in a ribeye.
Going to try to eat more plant based on this trip, need to finish trip without needing a stent.

this trip is not a see every possible thing I can see trip. It's a go see my sister in California, since i don't fly, and see some fun things coming and going.
which is why I figure two weeks out and two weeks back, not a month or more each way.
And every two or three stops I need to stay an extra day to rest my body. Or it just won't be fun, I'll hurt too much.
getting an epidural on my neck before I go, little insurance of sorts.
so I have some physical issues that restrict or govern what I do.
I think it will be a great adventure and I just have to take it slowly, stay on cruise, drive safely,
and every morning start humming:
It's a beautiful morning....

and if I am looking out at Moab, it sure will be.

Maybe I can time this for an Area 51 get together, you all can see me in the tv reports out there with all those lunatics standing
on top of my motorhome dancing away.
Definitely not.
Now if a little alien hopped on board as I go past Roswell, well...plenty of room.
We could discuss alien tractors and have a good old time.

for context, at some point in next two years will sell my farm and downsize.
Then will head back out West doing this again, this time for longer period and seeing areas I may have missed,
like Mt Rushmore and other places further North. I would likely drive to Washington and take the cruise ship to Alaska.
And maybe then take the big boat over to Hawaii.
Just can't do everything in one trip. My farm is too high maintenance, fruit and nut orchards, ten acres of lawn.
It will be hard to be away from it for many reasons. So this first big rv trip can't be my longest or most complete one.
Besides would really like to make this trip with some female company some day. Would make it a lot more fun and less hard on me.
