Trailering Tractor with Forward Facing Exhaust. Issues?

Lots of controversy, threads. Placing a nerf football in the exhaust is easy. However if it is a problem would not the manufacturer say never to park the tractor in the wind? Reality is air in the exhaust needs to make its way through turbo, find a cylinder with both exhaust and intake valves open (BDC of exhaust stroke), back through turbo, ATAAC, air cleaner and out.

Might be easier on some equipment to put a bag over the air intake.

I trailer my M9's once in a while, same as you, vertical stack. I just turned it sideways. Never an issue since 2006.

Don't want to turn it, stuff a rag in it.

What did it used to look like? I took the one off my tractor. The auto level on my backhoe was even worse. I sawzalled it off. I wouldn’t have hated it if I could override but it was a positive interlock.

Not sure on pipe size, but why not bolt a tractor exhaust flapper to the exhaust pipe? Would help keep wind, rain, and animals or other things out of the pipe

My JD 6415 was delivered with the exhaust covered. No idea if needed or not, but gave peace of mind.

Yes it's a thing.

Owners manual for my backhoe warns to cap the exhaust when trailering. Wouldn't surprise me if this isn't covered in your manual.

I made sure they taped mine up with duct tape when it was being transported to me but a rag might work for short distances.

I saw a company selling heat resistant bags for this somewhere but they were stupid expensive.

When I used to haul a lot of stuff we always covered a forward facing exhaust and a straight up exhaust if it didn't have a flapper on it or if the flapper was turned wrong for our direction of travel. The reason wasn't for the turbo though, it was to keep rain and debris out of the exhaust.
