"No land line, only sketchy cell phone service" . I have learned to uses a "work around" and I rather enjoy a quiet life. I do most of my communication via email. I have HughesNet for that. I DO have TV - I have Dish for that.

It's a long story but - the power company ABSOLUTELY refuses to allow any type of communication lines to be hung on their power poles. End of that story.

The lowest estimate for phone service - 1982 estimate - $25,000. I really doubt its got any cheaper with time.

How many traffic lights now have computer control boxes at intersections?

I remember sitting at a red light years ago on my little 175 Honda, watching it skip me for several cycles because I didn't weigh enough to trip the sensor under the pavement. Finally I grew tired of waiting went through the red...then saw the the blue lights come on behind me. I explained why I had done it and he let me go, it would have saved me time if I had just waited for a car to come up behind me to trip the switch.

Had a crop sprayer 2 cars ahead of me that couldnt trip the light, the guy in sprayer pulled as far up as he could, and motioned the car behind to pull up close. Now they have replaced a lot of the pavement sensers with motion senser up on the light.

There is a restaurant in a town near me that had poor ratings when they first opened. After a while they told patrons that if they would give them a 5 star review they would reduce their bill by $5.

Take about scum. Ive never eaten there and never will.
