The reason the highway says 6% grade, next 5 miles is because the angle changes over the next 5 miles, might even be flat in a place or 2, but overall it's dropping a lot.

Straight up vertical should be 100 and flat horizontal should be 0, that would make sense. But what would the sign say if it changed over the next 5 miles? :D. Oops, talk about thread drift...

That would make 400 degrees in a circle. I think there should be 1000 degrees in a circle, and that would make the math so much easier. ;)

I vote on using degrees. It’s silly to talk about a roof that slopes at 110%.
I rather say “rise over run” or “rise to run” and use a fraction than undefined percentages.

That makes sense on roofs, but we're talking about hills.

Different nomenclature for different items. Usually the nomenclature is very descriptive and easy to use for what you are doing.

For a multiple of ten graduations in a circle with tenths for subdivisions! 15* 25' 53" gets to be a pain when using logarithm's to twelve point accuracy.
