Me and the fam was up in northern ME this past weekend, me my younger son went to a couple small town stores, my son is open carrying a side arm, at one grocery store my son ask a women store clerk where stuff we wanted was, got what we wanted and left, no one batted an eye, no paranoia up there............

Same around here, open carry is like wearing shoes, most people wear them..

I am not a fan of open carry. Why draw attention to yourself. I have CCW permits that cover all the states I go to except CA. And open carry is not legal there as far as I know. But I prefer concealed. No one needs to know I have it. And odds are I will never need it. It's good peace of mind though. But I do feel less safe in CA since I can not carry there. Around here you need WA and OR as OR won't take anyone else's. Then UT covers the rest of the west coast states that WA won't. CO and NM are not covered but I don't go there. But a couple times a year we take our RV to LA via SLC and back up I-5. I am sure I am like most here and pray hope I never need it. No sane person wants to shoot someone.

Obviously we are getting off the topic of AR's unless we are going to talk about concealing those but... :D

I agree that open carry seems to invite anxiety unless you are in a rural area where the open carry makes more 'sense'.

You might know the place, Sebec Lake, if you blink you'll miss the town, Sebec county store was the first stop then into the grocery store in Milo, then back to the camp at the north side of lake. Bear season I think is on now so it might be the norm for people to open carry up there, I wonder if AR's are used to bear hunt...........
