Understanding Error 008

I purchased a new NX4510 over the weekend and had a backhoe put on Monday so today was the first day I have operated the tractor. It was delivered and I got home and unfortunately it would not start and had the error code 008.

Dealer said it's nothing to worry and said it won't start cause I'm not heavy enough at 140lbs and he seemed to think the sensor didn't recognize me sitting on the seat so he said adjust the firmness down and compress the seat a couple times aka jump up and down.

So anyway the tractor did start whether or not that had to do with seat firmness adjustment and jumping on seat I do not know.

Enough with the ramble. My question is will the tractor start with that error code 008 ?

Its unclear to me what the code means, does it mean there is water in the fuel OR that the system cannot detect the sensor that detects water?

Any help is much appreciated as I'm want to be informed that I know what I'm asking the dealer.

System can’t detect the sensor. And yes it will start and run even with that error code.

Thanks countrybumpkin. I'll ask them to replace the sensor or do they need to clean it or maybe even reconnect it?

CB, when I had the 008 code on my tractor with the Regen issues that I have been having, I was told that Kioti's have a problem with ghost codes showing up. I found that to be interesting.

Error Code 007 and 008 are only signally a "Safety Start" fault. The error codes in the Operator Information window on the instrument cluster are only signally faults in the Safety Start system, and have nothing to do with the Engine ECU. If the operator forgets to meet one of the Safety Start requirements, in the seat, range in neutral, ect., you will get one of the error codes in the dash unit. Once the safety start requirements are met, the tractor will start and the error code will remain for a couple seconds, then disappear.

Important to know that the error codes on the dash unit are ONLY Safety Start errors, and have nothing to do with the Engine ECU and Fault System. The NX Tractors have a separate Safety Start System that is read through the operator information in the dash unit.

I find it hard to believe that you are not heavy enough to trip the seat switch, if it was a seat switch issue, sounds more of a loose connection or switch malfunction. Mine didn’t take much pressure, I could reach up in the cab and press down with my hand and activate the switch but I’m not sure how the newer seats are. Mine will not start if the brakes are not coupled together and foot on the brake. Mine is a shuttle shift however.

On my Kubota L48 TLB, exactly ZERO pounds on the seat is necessary to start the tractor!
I think.....the "seat switch" is somewhere in a box.....,maybe on the third shelf down from the top.

They have it in the shop and I'll ask the question cause after looking through the manual all I was doing was adjusting seat firmness. It was behaving a lot better but still needs to be looked into.

I also am having them look at the range shift as I only had Medium and neutral....womp womp

I thought ERR-008 error was water in the fuel (page 4-32 in your owner's manual). Unplug the fuel sensor at the bottom of the fuel filter and spin it out until the water pours out, then tighten it back up again. Prime the fuel system again and go start up the engine.
