You said "hello" he said "hey", what is the difference?
In Europe, we learned to pick up the phone and say our name. Like "hello this is Bert Zegers" Just hello is considered rude. Now I live in Canada and people picking up the phone say "hello".
How am I supposed to know who I am talking to?
If I call someone and the person picking up the phone says "hello" I will say my name and I will ask "who am I talking to?"
The one that gets me is:
(me) "Hello"
(them)....after a pause..."Who is this ?"
Torks me off......so I respond "Who were you hoping to get ?"....or "Well, WHO is this ?"
(them) "uh, I think I have the wrong number"
(me)...."Could be...OR maybe I just stopped in the middle of my burglary to answer the phone.....you want to speak to one of the folks I duct taped up ?"
What good is a phone if you can't have fun with it ?![]()
I知 not going to say you are out of touch, but who has a home phone these days!?!?
I answer the phone with:
Myers Mortuary, you stab'em we slab'em, how may I help you?
I get a lot of hang up calls.
I'm still shocked that a 14 year old actually called someone on a phone! I thought that was a lost art these days.
