BX Tires going flat

another vote for foam filling. i was worried about the talk of steering linkage stress ect but have not found much concrete evidence on this. The quote i got from my local industrial tire place for BX front tires was $110 each, and each front wheel will weigh 49 pounds. not too bad. esp when you consider the front end is made to handle a FEL, front end weights ect, a few pounds on the front wheels wont bother me. no more flats. Ive heard several instances of tubes and rims becoming misaligned, dont feel like dealing with that.

Im going to get the fronts done this month (brand new tires already been plugged once). And when the rears eventually get punctured and blow out all their ballast, i will take those for foam too.

sounds like you got it all figured out

I hope we hear from you AFTER you get those tires foam filled and use them a few times and give us a review of your experience.

There were others about 10 years ago, (myself included), that had the front tires (turf tires) losing air on the BX models. It turned out to be the seating around the rim...right out of the dealers....brand new.. I fixed mine with some rim sealant that took care of the problem.

Cheers,
Mike

Yeah, ?9 BX2660. Constant flats on both front tires. After the first year put tubes in both, no issues since. Fortunately I don稚 drive it in an area with thorns or sharp items.

I foamed both my R4 front tires on my M59 after too many times of dealing with flats or squishing with a loaded bucket. Thorns, nails, stump snags in brush piles, sharp shale, etc made it well worth the $400 it cost to know I can get another 10 years out of them without worries. They ride about 10% stiffer but the only time I can feel it is full speed 15mph on the road, or if I run square over a sidewalk curb where the bump is pretty stiff. Still worth it, plus it eliminates sun rot as a factor for replacement. I may do the same to the rears if I ever puncture them and have to replace the liquid.

Just picked up my new set of BX front turf tires/wheels.
Ready for at least a couple years of flat free tractoring! $165 complete from my Kubota dealer.
Almost too pretty to install!
I will wait until I have a problem before I put them on.
Just re-tubed the offending culprit...

Tried that. Didn稚 work. Also tried filling in the front tires with this black goop. Can稚 remember what it was, but the tire shop did it. Then, after a while I guess it ate through the sidewall of the tire, because both front tires blew and squirted that black poop all over the place. Finally just went out and bought a new set of tires on rims, and they explained that they are much better than the OEM tires. Haven稚 had a problem since, so I guess the quality control problem has been solved.

Do you remember the brand and model of tire you bought, and where you got them? Are they turfs?

Thanks

My first BX2660, no issues with turfs. Even the R-4痴 were fine for years. Now, my current BX2670 had issues the first year. Got fed up. Tubed them. Last month, one went flat. Dealer said 泥on稚 tube it. Seal the bead? So far so good. One tubed, one sealed. As soon as I can swing it, I知 getting a set of R-4痴. The turfs are good for grass, and grass only.

How did you seal the bead? Not familiar with that.

I have a bx1880 with leaky front left - might be the bead - but my riding mower with really small front tires and also my wheelbarrow frequently leak flat via the bead - drives me crazy.

What are the standard front tires on a bx24/25 called. Are they R4's? Want to order new rim/tire but not sure what part # is required as they show several different tires. Emailed them but no repsonce.

Been battling flats/slack pressure/leaking on the front since new at 2008. Replaced stems two years ago helped as they were shrunk. Went with tubes 5 months back big help as on one front was leaking through sidewall. But then using bx24 hard clearing debris after a septic field repair.

Spun tire on rim and pulled tube stem right out of rim. Ordered more tubes to have a spare. Need to buy a spare tire/rim so I'll have a quick fix to prevent downtime as had to go to shovel and wheelbarrow. Fortunately was 90 % compelte with job.

Update: Found shop that is going to foam the flat tire. Hopefully that will be a more permanent solution.

'Standard' could be R4 or 'Turf'. Depends on the tread design you want. There are other tread choices but these are the two most popular for the BX line.

It might be a good idea to foam fill both tires on the same axle....and yes, properly foam filling the tires WILL be the solution.

Had my BX tires foam filled over a decade ago (maybe 15 years ago). Happy camper.

Rim sealer comes in a can with a brush and just brush it around the edge of the rim.
