What else do you do with forks besides lift pallets?

I built a box, about 4x4x3 that I use when I'm chipping, it's a pallet underneath and I'll take the box, fill it with the chipper, and then pick the box up and take the chips where I need them. That works very nicely.

That's a great idea and I'm putting it on my 'Project List'.

A slight variation...I just picked up two damaged IBC tanks from a farmer neighbour. One frame will become a work platform and the other for firewood based on everyone's ideas above. The removed tanks have holes in them so I plan to cut the top off one, screw it to a pallet, and fill it with chips from my new chipper (woohoo).

Not a bad idea but around here the 'plastic' tanks won't last too long due to UV deterioration. I'd give it a year and the plastic would crack/shatter when the chips hit the back.

Yes, I could get a bit longer life if I stored it in the shed... but, like all sheds, it's filling up with 'stuff'.

I suppose, and bugs eat your wood too. You live in a tough place - you should move here as winter begins . Our Aussie visitors went back home in September so they could enjoy Spring. Enjoy.

Well I was thinking of getting forks for putting hay up in the maw. They would be nice but I don't plan to buy any soon. A friend suggested getting the forks from an old fork lift and then welding them onto a universal plate. But who funds old fork lifts laying around? I don't...

That is EXACTLY what I did, and used it to put up hay,, and, there is a video!!

I converted the tractor to SSQA,, then I made a DIY adapter to hold the forks,
the forks pivot at the top on a 1 1/2" steel bar,

I bought the forks close to 20 years ago, from a farmer that had them laying in a field. They are 48" long forks,,

I use mine to lift appliances, furniture & other heavy objects up onto my second story deck using an oversize pallet. It beats having to haul the stuff up stairs.
