How come nobody has recommended a cabbed Grand L to this guy yet? You’re in Wisconsin man, you need a cab for your brutal winters and monster mosquitos. Check out a L4060HSTC with the most awesome HST+ transmission and heated, air conditioned cab!

6-7 acres of clover field

The tasks I can see needed for the tractor:

Disc/turn/work the clover field
Mowing clover field and trails.

Leave the clover. The bees need it and if you're planning on crops later, it's good for the soil as a conditioner.

Looking at you’re list of things I could accomplish all of those tasks except for the 2k lift on loader/ but maybe 3 pt would with my L3800 hst. With bachoe.

I didn’t see snow removal on his list but if I was doing that I’d definitely want a cab. And the GrandL is a much nicer machine than the regular models.

Thank you Jeff9366 for all the great info!

As far as having a cab, I've never had one in many years of working our hunting land with the IH424 with 100 degrees, sub-zero temps, so I guess I'm ok not knowing what I'm missing. And going through woods, I think a cab would be very clunky and awkward. Plus getting into cab range money territory may be more than I'm wanting to bite off in the spring.

If in snow country, a cab would be a must have. Contrary to what some believe, a cab is not as fragile in the woods as one would think. If you watch what you are doing and dont drive under a low limb that would damage the top, most cabs will easily move limbs to the side. They might scratch the paint or plastic a bit, but judicious use of the FEL to part limbs make travelling in light tree cover possible. This being said, there is nothing wrong with trimming up all your trees to allow driving under them if you need to. I have trimmed up all my trees so I can drive my LS with cab under them without touching anything. A good pole saw is a must have for anyone with a forest and a tractor. An ounce of prevention will save time and effort in the long run.

As for removing nuisance trees, nothing beats a backhoe, unless it is an excavator. If you can afford the extra cost, you will find lots of uses for it on your new property. I have had mine since 2010 and still find uses for it. After my house was built, I used it a lot for installing remote water faucets, putting in a sprinkler system, digging up rocks (Arkansas has lots of rocks) and of course removing tons of sweet gum and thorn trees from the property. I also use it from time to time to keep my drainage ditches and creek cleaned out. While an excavator would work better at ditch cleaning, they are pretty much a one trick pony and can only dig whereas a TLB can dig, move material and convert to a normal tractor for other duties.

It sounds like a MX would suit you fine, good farm weight, plenty of HP, and not a crazy cost. Go with a cab model if you can afford it and I'd get Ag tires.

Tractor may have to run across the lawn occasionally for different things, so I'm leaning towards the R4 Industrial tires. Nice compromise between traction and turf protection.
I appreciate all the comments to get me thinking about different aspects for this (huge for me) purchase!

I do not think the cab is as much hindrance as most would think, at least in brush. Cannot speak for heavy trees as I do not have any. The can version of the Grand L is actually about 6 inches shorter than the ROPS version. Yes, the cab is wider than the ROPS but it also keeps brush from beating you to death. I find I actually can go places with the cab I would have not gone without it. It just spreads the small branches out of the way. Dead brush is another story, I stay away from it with the cab. It sees the grapple instead.
