What's cooler than ripped out knees?

People are just plain weird. People aspire to earn six figures, wear a rolex (or better) but want to look like a field worker with torn trousers.

Some women (and Dwight Yoakam) can really pull off the look though. lol

You get what you pay for. A pair of jeans that lasts is going to cost a lot more than the $15 cheapies from Walmart.

I used to hate the old-school dungarees when I was a kid. As someone else mentioned, they were stiff as a board. By the time they'd softened up enough to be comfortable they were well on their way to the rag bag.

The only clothes of mine that go to Goodwill, etc. are either ones I've "outgrown" :laughing: or stuff I never wear. I'll wear work clothes until they disintegrate. Knees wear out I'll patch them once, then make cutoffs out of them.



Is an "opportunity shop" the same thing as what we call a thrift store?
We really need an Aussie<->American English dictionary!

Actually, the walmart stuff is pretty hardy denim, their wranglers or rustlers. I'm fairly active around here, they hold up pretty good for me.

I buy carhartt double front jeans, both non insulated and insulated, they last a while.. I have canvas double front as well quilt lined for winter, the canvas last years.. When they fail I have a a local seamstress apply another piece of canvas to them if the rest of them isn't worn..

I have a pair of carhartt insulated jeans and I can’t seem to wear them out... maybe because they are too hot. Maybe I need to move to Minnesota for the winters?

I miss my mom. She used to sew knee patches on my jeans and elbow patches on my shirts. I used to hate it but now I long for her touch.

Last pair I got from Walmart was awful. Stiff, and would bind in the crotch. A couple wearings and they went to the Salvation Army.

I used to like the Sam's Club Members Mark jeans. Inexpensive, comfortable and stood up reasonably well. Dunno if they still make them...nearest Sam's is a 2 hour drive now.

For my fellow Western Washington members, Sunbirds a local store in Yelm and Centralia has Key double front Jean's on sale now for $23. 14 oz denim, after a year of use I'm just getting mine broken in!

Knees are the last thing that I worry about. Walking through brush and raspberries will take the leg bottoms out of mine in no time. One rainy day, no matter how new the jeans are and they are toast. I don’t remember what inexpensive brand that I used to buy, but the material would completely disintegrate right to the top of my boots. They would be high water pants in front, and normal length in back. :laughing:

I have a few pairs of Carhartts left that I wear as casual jeans. Wearing them to work beat them up fairly quick and at 60.00 a pair I would rather keep them for a while. The past coup,e years I have been wearing cheap carpenters jeans from Kohls at work. They are 15/16.00 a pair and I can get about a year out of them. I usually buy 3 pair at a time and toss the 3 from the year before
