When I consistently see people using tenders getting better battery life than I do without them I will consider using them.
So far I haven't seen it.

Personal choice I guess,been using then for years.My kubota RTV battery lasted 8 years.With the cold Michigan winters I bet it would have lasted about 5 years without one.Whatever works for you so be it.

Well I have an INTELLIGENT charger (about $30) on my generator.
Going on 6 years now and my genny always has a full charge.
(had to use it today) Fired up just fine!
I scrapped one battery as I used a cheap ($10.00) charger that was nothing but a transformer and one diode.
Expect to pay $30.00 or so for a proper one.

My last pickup truck battery lasted 13 years.
Original tractor battery 11 years.
Original motorcycle battery 9 years.
None ever had a battery tender on them. That's why I say, if I consistently start seeing others getting better battery life with a tender I will consider using them.
Sar far I haven't.

As I stated personal choice.Glad it works for you.I will stay with my Battery tenders.

Today's vehicles have so much 'intelligence' that simply drains batteries over time.
Used to be only a dash mounted clock but today's cars just have too much power sucking gadgets.
Your alternator generally has 3 diodes and if one is shot you'll drain the battery in short time.
Once saw an early Jaguar limo that had a huge battery just to keep the electronic gadgets alive.

My mom had a FCA car. Had to keep a tender on it constantly and the battery was under the the splash panel in the wheel well. Great spot for access.... not.

Until I started using maintainers on my batteries it was a give that every year I would have to replace the battery in the lawn mower. After I started using them the battery on the lawn mower went from replace every year to 5+ years. I always used the cheap Walmart battery since it would last as well as a higher priced batteries in that particular application. I also noticed a marked increase in the life of the batteries in the big tractors and generator. In fact all every thing with a battery in it that is not daily use like a car or truck might be saw an increase in battery life and that adds up to big $$$ with the number of battery equipped units I have on the place.
