The other big issue with the new trucks is the increasing height. Getting in and out practically requires a ladder. I stood next to a 2019 F350 SRW and the top of the bed rails is 60" high. I have a new 2018 Sundowner horse trailer and based on some quick measurements, those bed rail heights would probably be a real problem on uneven ground.
I ended up abandoning my new truck search and will take another look next year when I have more time to decide what's going to work well for an all-around everyday driver and work truck. I'll probably custom order something with only the bells and whistles I want and put a flatbed on it.
