GM trucks have slipped

Can't say much for GM's fit and finish, since I haven't been in a newer one in quite some time. But their exterior styling has gone down the drain! Ugliest truck on the road right now is the 2020 Chevy. Hideous grill design. Rest of the body isn't so bad, but can't get past the soulless grill.

I've owned all the major brand over the years, been a pretty loyal Ford guy for a while. But gotta say the Ram has come a long way in just a few years. Yes, they are ALL too expensive!

Yea the new GM truck grills may be some of the least inspired GM has ever designed.

GM does sometimes under promise capabilities though , just saw the released NET HP and torque #'s for the new LT2 6.2 liter OHV Corvette engine 495 HP and 470 lb. ft. torque.

MotorTrend strapped a new production Vette down to a dyno and the car made 560 HP and ~ 517 lb. ft. torque

AT THE REAR WHEELS

For Being normally aspirated pushrod engine very impressive.

Can Imagine a truck tuned version of this engine architecture once it filters down to more GM vehicles
- maybe with some Turbocharged boost for the (high performance) models

All the truck builders are going for the 'Big Truck' look in grills, GM is no exception. It's the 'Macho' thing. My personal opinion is the most butt ugly grill out there is a Lexus with Hundai coming in second. That Lexus grill alone costs over 700 clams to replace. I know of someone who has one. Large bird in the grill = 700+ bucks.

I find that cheap, but it is in US funds. Someone was talking about a $2000 GM mirror. I remember I once broke a side mirror washing my car and for a couple of bucks had a glass shop cut me out a mirror and stuck it on.

Some of the Macho-look trucks are so over the top, doesn't anyone feel just a bit foolish driving them?

In case you haven't noticed but, pickup trucks are getting bigger and bigger macho grills but BIG trucks...Class 8 road tractors are getting smaller and smaller grills, because big truck builders came to realization that a big squared off hood and massive grill is not an efficient way to get good fuel mileage. Like shoving your fist through jello.

If I wanted a grill that looks like a Topkick I’ll drive my Topkick. I hate the new Chevy front ends. I tossed around the idea of buying a 2016 truck a but I hated the front end. Which isn’t even as bad as the 2020 one.

I also hate the monster front ends on the newer trucks. Besides costing a lot to replace, I think they make seeing up front close to the truck more difficult. Like some of the tractors. I would prefer a front end more rounded and lower. I have a 2006 GMC K2500 and like that front end design to this day.

I think that is the last year of good looking GM trucks.

Agreed, I have a 2003 GMC 2500HD Duramax, I'll take it over any of the new ones. No emissions, good looking front end, don't need all the fancy bells and whistles.

I'm with you on no emissions junk. That probably irks the tree huggers though.

Pickup truck, 97 Ford 7.3 no emissions junk, both Kubota's, pre Tier 4. The new Ford's have huge grills too. All vacuum injection plastic.
