License plates go on the front of ton and heavier trucks. And a conveyor to load the truck would be great.

That makes a lot sense. The plate on my one ton, which is on the back per state law, is often unreadable for many different reasons.

Around here, you need plates both front & back, plus registration sticker goes in the windshield, real easy to see for those DOT checkpoints..

This thread is closing in on 10,000 posts.

If I'd known that yesterday I would've kept posting so I could've won that brand new tractor...........

It has been about two years since I cut wood, but for the last three weeks I have been cutting some White Ash before the Emerald Ash borer arrives.

I had some really nice Ash that I have been saving for years, but with the Emerald Ash Borer on our doorstep, and the price through the roof right now, I decided it is time to go.

I had two loads of Veneer go out so far, and get paid this afternoon for the first one. It will be interesting to see how it scaled up.

I did feel like a NumbSkull though yesterday.

Deep in the forest, in a nice grove of Ash, was this one tree. It was a decent tree, but it did not look quite like White Ash, not really like Green Ash, and quite different from Soft Maple. Of anything, it looked like Green Ash, so I felled it, cut a nice 12 foot log out of it, but the rest was kind of corkscrewed, big but just convoluted enough so that it might get cut back by a scaler pretty hard...so I took the butt log, and left the rest.

I did not think anything of it until my trucker said he did not load a couple of Mat Logs that had some rot, and "the Elm log I set aside too."

I do not have a lot of Elm, so I am not used to seeing it in the woods, and had I known I would have left it as a seed tree. I looked really healthy, had phenomenal growth rings, and was plenty big enough; I just felt kind of dumb because I had no idea what it was for a tree.

That was an easy mistake to make. Chances are there are a few others around, if you start looking for them. You can tell when they are diseased when they start sprouting branches from the stem.

The top will burn good though, after you have the fun of splitting it.

No thank you!

I will send it to the paper mill instead. (LOL)
