I was going to take all four tires off to have them loaded. The wheel covers the axle almost to the differential. The only good place to jack in the back is in the middle under the drawbar mount. But bottom of the differential is a thin casting and semi-flat with nowhere to put a jackstand. So all I can think of is to jack up offcenter, take off the tire on that high side, put a jackstand under the axle, set it down on jackstand, jack up offcenter to the other side, take off that tire and put a jackstand under that side. The front is easy.

Problem is, there isn't anywhere offcenter that looks like a good jackpoint. And after one tire is off and the other needs jacked up it will have to be pretty far offcenter.

So how are you all jacking up your tractors?

Thanks,
Mark

I don't think anybody fills the fronts...

Is there not a rear drawbar? You should be able to jack it there and put some jack stands under for stability.

fill them yourself at home.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wanted the fronts loaded because the front tires sometimes skid instead of turn with the 6' bushhog behind it. I probably should have considered filling them myself, I have an extra 80 gallon air tank that would have made that easy. I ended up jacking with a floor jack under the side of the drawbar bracket. Lifted one side, pulled the tire with it on the jack, then put a jackstand under the axle, jacked the other side, pulled the tire, then put a jackstand under the other. Same procedure for putting them back on. Not idea because I was workng with it on a jack (and one jackstand for the 2nd tire) but worked fine.

Thanks,
Mark

Be sure you DO NOT use a single stand or jack under the rear end. Front axle pivots and is dangerous. I almost lost tractor off of single jack. It was dangerous. You need to consider the weight of those tires when loaded handing them to reinstall. I also recommend filling on the tractor. Either haul the tractor, have tire dealer who services tractor tires do it at your shop or buy the few tools needed, not expensive.

There are those who say do not fill front tires. If you do fill the tires yourself be sure the level you are filling, do not fully fill normally fill to valve stem is at the top, needs a fair amount of air for shock relief. Check out front weights.

I don't like working on anything supported by a jack alone. I always add wood blocks under the section being lifted by the jack, "just in case". Of course, I'm Old Fashion, I prefer wood blocking, cribbing, rather than jack stands.

Oldoak, don't disagree with you on advisability but these compact tractors with narrow tracks and wide tires don't leave hardly any room at all.

kThompson, yeah, same reason it doesn't matter if you're on a slope and the high front tire goes over a rock or stump, but really matters if the high rear wheel does...
