I would really like to see an alternative fueled vehicle become a reality but when I read ,all too often, the statement that "For every 100 gallons of gasoline in a ICE 80 gallons is dumped into the atmosphere"it really turns me off. I think this is a huge exaggeration and totally unnecessary.
I was born and raised in the mountains of Co. and visited Los Angeles the first time in 1957,so I know what pollution is. It reminded me a lot of the pics California posted of India, but so much has been done it's not even close any more.
I truly believe that enough people are on board for clean air that exaggeration is not necessary.

From The Verge

Ford has created an all-electric Mustang with a six-speed manual gearbox, a true Frankenstein’s monster of a car that I (and I assume many others) want to drive. The sad thing is it’s just a one-off, built for this week’s annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show in Las Vegas.

Dubbed “Mustang Lithium,” and clad in light gray paint with electric blue details, the car can pull enough energy out of the 800-volt battery to make more than 900 horsepower. Ford unfortunately didn’t share too many other specifications, like range or the size of the battery, since this is just a prototype....

I don't even know where they put the batteries in most EVs. I just thought the mass might be distributed differently than a conventional vehicle.

I understand that Tesla has very good crash ratings. The battery is positioned low to give the car a low center of gravity. The absence of the engine in front of the driver makes it easier to design the front end to collapse to absorb the impact and preserve the integrity of the passenger area.

As long as it doesn't have a malfunction and lock you into the car causing you to burn to death like a gentleman did earlier this year...

Yeah, that was messed up, but I found the story puzzling. There was a police officer immediately on the scene, and I've seen them smash a side window like nothing. I don't understand why the officer was helpless because the door handle wouldn't present itself.

I will say that I find that door handle design to be an over-engineered problematic gimmick.

Reminds me of my I phone, when I want to execute some function and there is simply nothing to press, like a simple STOP. Now what? Makes me feel like smashing it, right then and there. I'm not big into, guess how this works, technology.

I agree, I can get a 1/2” breaker out of my car in about 30 seconds and that will do a number on most windows.

I saw one cop chase video where the perp finally pulled over after a very fast chase (might have been a charger) and the cop parked off the shoulder in the grass, where his vehicle started a fire. He messed around with a fire extinguisher as I recall but never thought to drive the car onto the hard shoulder.
