Moss, thanks for doing the legwork. Totally supports my stand on this. Pages and pages of Stupidity on the part of owners.

Some are stupid. Some properties are just too far gone for the owners to care anymore. Or it's not cost effective to put any money into the place, so they abandon it.

Anyhow, it is what it is. Anyone that owns a home should know that you have to pay property taxes on a regular basis. If you don't get a tax bill, you should probably have enough sense to go down to the county office and inquire what's up with that? The error is on you, not them, for not checking.

My point all along. :)

Twice a year our newspaper publishes legal ads for our county that lists all the properties that are delinquent on taxes. It's 20 pages of 6 column 10pt type!

Ours isn't that bad, but our population is pretty low.

That sounds like a lot of pain out there, despite the "GREAT" economy and low unemployment reports.

Even the first case cited in the article, where his taxes were paid up to date except for that niggling $8.95 from 3 years ago?

"Government" and organized charities prefer that you give cash rather than food or Christmas gifts, claiming that they can give more that way. To me that separates the donors from those who need it, creating more of an "us against them" mentality. I was raised to help those less fortunate, and I try to do as I was raised. Yet to give blindly as our government does creates an "entitlement" attitude which is promoted by one of our political parties; while those same people are demonized by the other major party.

It is easier to skim off cash than cans of creamed corn. Who wants creamed corn when you can take a percentage? Sometimes a large percentage.

The not for profits would change their tune, if they got paid in canned goods. I think I mentioned my lady friend living near a food bank and seeing all the dumped turkeys along the roadway. Disgusting! I certainly wouldn't help people like that.

Everything you and I have came from our good fortune.

Now hold on. Steppenwolfe promoted giving back when good fortune smiled upon people, so those Kubotas should not be kept. There are many members of society that could use them more than he. He should give one Kubota to charity every year as the wealth tax he supports. After the Kubotas he should start with whatever else he has to give.
