I'm wondering if a person was to warm the nut part of the fitting with a torch whether that wouldn't be enough to get it to break loose.

I'm not sure about that. Its filled with ATF fluid and its the lowest point on the system.

If it is filled with ATF, is there a way to shut the flow off? Or is is a fast swap out? Jon

We got it apart today by taking the flange bolts out of each side. That is the pump and motor, each with 4 bolts. Then we move the one end onto the floor which was of course much easier to work with on. Then got it apart with some heat and 2, 18" crescent wenches. In the 2nd photo, you can see the motor and the hole the line came through. The nuts holds the hose on are 2.5"

Last one is a bonus photos that's a better view of the 375hp Cummin's engine that power these.

From what I have heard around here is that the snow cat style of machine is a maintenance headache compared to an ag style tractor with tracks. but I have never used tracks on a tractor only on my ATV.

I think most people just aren't familiar with working on these types of machines.

The outfit I work for had 5 New Holland tractors with two track system some 10+ years ago. I'm told they were problematic. This spring they got rid of there last converted tractor that was JD with a Soucy 4 track kit. This tractor was also problematic but the tracks maintenance ran about 30K per year. They were happy to see it go......

This week I was repairing upper guards on the plows. There are added so as to carry a little extra material in them, while not blocking headlamps. 1st photo shows them in general. Seems the are rather light, made from 16 gauge and crack on a regular bases. In the 2nd photo, I marked the corner that they all are cracked at. I can't figure out why they crack here, seem there is little stress at this point. I've already added a extra 3/6th plate seen in this photo. Not seen was the extra 10 gauge plate I added to the end caps. In the last photo you can see the reinforcement caps that I added to the joints. What do you thing??

My guess is that part of blade that guard is attached to flexes more than guard does.
