Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:30AM. Cloudy skies with periods of rain this afternoon. High around 50F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
The weather workers are talking Atmospheric River for this next storm, a Pineapple Express. Thanks, David...
Did some Black Friday shopping yesterday, but didn't buy much. The van needs an alarm system, and I thought I'd spring for one from Viper, but you get no warranty or installation instructions if you buy one online. I also learned that Python alarms are made by the same company, with the same screwy policies. Ended up reading up on one from AudioVox, that now call themselves Voxx. who a few years ago purchased another company and now markets their alarms under the Prestige label.:confused2: All the features of the big names, generous lifetime warranty, apparently good after the sale support, but we'll see how quickly they respond to a pre-sale inquiry...
Managed to get the dash put back together yesterday, and spent a lot of time on my back peering up at the space behind the glove box trying to figure out why it wouldn't close al the way. Found out it's still hitting the blower housing from the Vintage Air heater/air conditioner conversion, and short of tearing it all out, all I could do was whittle some plastic out of the glove box, which is really more of a vertical bin that pivots at the bottom, so not much space was lost. Turns out I have two of them, and the latch on the one that I've already painted to match the rest of the interior somehow got full of grit and dirt, and doesn't work well. Tried flushing with solvent and blowing it out, but it's still gritty. Got the other one out, and it actually works much better, and I think it'll be easier to just wait for a warm, dry day and give it a coat of paint and use it instead. In the mean time, it could use a good soaking to get all the mouse poop out of it.:yuck: Cold start problem has been caused on other people's Subaru engines by bad temperature sensors or fuel pumps, but the code reader app I'm using reports normal temperature readings and doesn't track fuel pressure. And like a lot of other things these days, the market seems to be flooded with crappy Chinese fuel pressure gauges to the point that the companies that used to make good ones are now out of business. I have a spare, brand new, fuel pump, so maybe I'll try that this morning before it starts raining.
Doesn't feel much like a Saturday, but here it is anyway. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the long weekend!
