I would try CL local first. If you are going to try to sell on eBay folks are going to want you to arrange shipping.

Not true!
Simply state: No shipping!
Must be picked up!
Has never failed me.

I sold a car on Ebay, I was satisfied with the process. I listed it twice though. The first time I listed it at what I thought was a fair price, got no bids and the auction expired. The second time I listed it about half that but set the reserve to the original price. I got a bidding war and the "winner" paid about 25% above reserve.

A bidding war is ideal, and it happens somewhat often..

Yeah, this one would be listed as buyer arranges shipping, or local pickup. I have sold cars this way before, and have had buyers come from the Midwest to my place near Philly, to pick up specialty cars. Given the age and value of this tractor, it’s unlikely anyone is going to want to bother with shipping, it’s no rare antique. I’m going to be mostly dealing with people in the mid-Atlantic, who are willing to drive a few hours to pickup what is just a clean and solid older machine for a reasonable price.

FB Marketplace is something I’ll need to check out for the future, but I don’t really do any personalized social media, so I don’t have an online reputation upon which I could rely to be taken as a serious seller there. Just as you’d look sideways at any FB buyer without a photo or history, I’d be taken the same as a seller, given I’d be creating a new account solely for the purpose of selling this machine.

It looks like eBay is likely the best option, for my situation.

I haven't sold or bought anything big in awhile now, but the last time I sold a truck I tried CL without any success. Just calls with super lowball offers that where a waste of time. I just parked it at the front gate with a for sale sign and about a dozen people stopped to look at it that actually wanted to talk to me about it. Last one paid full asking price. When I finally get around to selling my dozer, that's probably what I will do.

I look at Craigslist a few times a week to see what's out there. I would like to buy another tractor just to feed round bales, so it will have to be something cheap and old. I'm also casually looking on Facebook Marketplace and a couple of East Texas groups that sell farm equipment and supplies. I find that the best prices and the most serious sellers are on CL. The scammers are everywhere, so buyer and seller beware regardless of what you do.

Fb doesnt really work the same as ebay, not sure the reviews and such matter all that much.

I tend to agree. The only thing I do look at is how long they've been on FB. I'd be more hesitant if I seen they just joined a few days prior.

FB marketplace to me is more or less just online classifieds that's all instead of seeing it in the newspaper its online. I know there are business on it, but most of the stuff I see is garage sell FSBO type stuff.

Last summer I sold my Kubota B series on Craigslist for 13K. Have also sold some implements as well. No complaints here.

You are in the Philly area.
My dad's 1981 Rabbit diesel pickup was on Cape Cod.
It sold last month to a guy from the Philly area.
It sold on E-Bay.
The buyer drove 375 miles each way, with a trailer, and stayed overnight in a motel.
The buyer would have likely never seen it if I had put it on CL or FB Marketplace.

We sold our L2501 on craigslist in only a couple of days. Don’t put your phone number on it and it cuts out the BS
