Stuck backhoe pin

You might have better luck with a weed burner propane torch for a lot less money than an oxi acet torch. I’ve used a loop of chains and a bottle jack for a press if there’s any way to get that rigged up.

Replacing bucket, every pin came out easy except the main pivot pin on the bucket. I tried hammering the **** out of it, putting a pipe wrench on it and then push it with the hydraulics but it won't move. I put a pulley puller on it and turned it in, put heat on it, nothing. I'm running out of ideas.

That little propane torch is great for soldering copper pipe together, but is absolutely useless for the job you are attempting.

I don't think propane will get hot enough to do what you want.I would do some research on the heat of the weed burner vs o/a. I think there is quite a difference.

I've used o/a before, the problem is supply. It's very hard to get gas around here. And my wife hates it every time I get gas.

Heating the pin makes it grow tighter in the bore....don't do that. Heat the part that is around the pin to make it grow bigger than the pin. Being that you will be heating some major steel, the arm structure, you will need a real torch. Call a mobile welding outfit to help out.

I've used mine many times to heat up thick flat bar very fast and then I use my HF bender to make a bend in the hot metal (also have used it with #8 rebar to bend).

It's much cheaper to heat item up then using my oxygen/acetylene tanks.

You might find a mapp gas torch that will work. I have no experience with them but they are supposed to burn hotter than propane. Just don't know if one is available to heat that much area that fast.
