Didn’t get a pic, but...

Wife managed to slip her scag into the chain link fence. This area is on a slope, still a tad moist, so as zero turns are want to do, when the tires slipped off the edge and into the depression near fence where she week whacks and roundups she was doomed. Being just a 36” the rops doesn’t require much angle to be outside the path.

Unable to manhandle into a better position, LS to the rescue.
Able to get forks over the fence and run a chain from rops to forks. Enough room to lift and inch forward about a foot upslope, enough to be on solid footing to allow driving scag out.

Made the new tractor earn its keep Saturday, pushed all the logs in the photo up onto the burn pile. Next will be the removal of the stumps. I am really impressed with the power this thing has and how much traction it maintains while in sloppy conditions.

Definitely looks like you are having a good time! I cannot remember... are your rears loaded? That will make a difference for sure!
Just a heads up..... be careful when you are out moving in that much debris.... the hydraulic filter just under the left floorboard is unprotected, it would be really easy to poke a stick into it! It is one of my spring projects to build some form of removable protection. Glad you are enjoying the tractor!

Put a bit of time on the power wheelbarrow moving some dirt and firewood. Almost feel guilty since it isn't real tractor time.

At one point I found myself sliding sideways downhill at an angle. Pedal or not made no difference. I knew I wasn't going over as such, but I was moving towards my wood pile and really didn't want to have to call the neighbor to pull me out. No real pucker, just a lot of words unfit for TBN. Got it stopped and corrected enough to back down hill where I could get on less mucky ground (which there is very little of right now) so I could start back uphill in a different direction.

Did a little bush hogging today on the mt573, also kinda just wanted to pull something with my new Cummins.

Yes I loaded the rear tires definitely worth it. I've been very careful when I've been backing up or around the brush to not drive over it so I don't punch a hole in a tire or get something jammed into that filter. I want to make a skid plate for it but those hard plumbed lines that touch the filter are making me really think about where to attach it. I have no problem making something stout enough just no real connection points. I really want a 3 point connection so I don't stress the side of the cast bell housing. I also want to make a skid plate for the bottom of the tractor but don't want to hinder the ground clearance anymore. The backhoe brackets definitely make the ground clearance a lot less.

I really need to get up to the brush pile with the backhoe to dig in some drainage so I get the water out of where I'm working. The hole where I dug out the stump (about 6' diameter and 3' deep) was filled with water after 1 day. I have a ton of springs coming out my side of the mountain so it is pretty wet most the year with decent soil (until you hit the clay). Hoping I can get the water diverted and I can start making headway on our little runoff pond.

Took advantage of the mild winter we’re having in Maine and got to work stumping the area where I plan to build a small barn for the tractor and tools.

I’m very happy with how well the BH will break through roots. Also, very impressed with the sturdiness of the thumb. IMG_7809.JPGIMG_7805.JPG

The thumb looks great to use! It is nice that the factory one is as wide as it is. Helps to grab on to bigger stuff!

Got the tooth bar and a chainsaw holder mounted. It’s a Titan tooth bar and I suppose you get what you pay for. It is heavy duty (over 100 lbs) but it was too wide to fit in the bucket. People had said they needed to do some grinding and hammering to make them fit but this was an inch too wide. Had to have a buddy cut a tooth off, cut off an inch of the flat stock then weld it back together. Pain in the ***, but it should work well and I think will hold up to abuse now that it’s dialed in.
IMG_7826.JPG

Also got the chainsaw holster mounted up. I bought the Bannon off Amazon for $33 and did a few easy modifications to make it work. I made a small backing plate that goes between the loader arm and the frame. I tapped two holes into it and drilled corresponding holes on the saw holder. The 1” bar stock just barely fits in there and there wasn’t a lot of material so had to go with 1/4” hardware. A few 1/4 bushings to keep the screws off the frame and a rubber stopper on the bottom to keep the holder from bouncing and fatiguing the metal. Quick coat of paint and it’s ready for duty. Not sure how the 1/4” hardware will take the bouncing but it will fail on the backplate if it does, so it’s easy to rebuild if I need to.
Also, it’s made to run without the plastic scabbard and had hard foam to keep the bar in place, but I plan to keep the scabbard in there for added protection. The big knobs on the front allow it to be fully adjustable depending on size.

PS, I found a can of Sail Blue Rustoleum at an odd lot sale for $1.50 and figured I couldn’t lose for that price. Wasn’t sure how it would match. It isn’t exact if you look close, but it’s **** close for $1.50.

The tooth bar and saw holder look great! The sail blue color is really close, could not beat it for that price! If you want a near perfect match, the Rustoleum “ safety blue” is actually a closer match. Sometimes it is hard to find. I know HD sells it, I bought a six pack at $4.99 can to paint the canopy. Only used 2 cans..... I sprayed it on some scratches on the BH.... you cannot see where it was done without looking in the glare...
