Are there any refrigerator companies that make a reliable fridge anymore ??

An inverter refrigerator is basically where the compressor is running as a frequency drive. Variable speed compressor, so rather than the compressor running at full speed it would run at whatever minimum speed needed. So the refrigerator needs control of its own inverter. If you have multiple inverter appliances, one could be running at 100% while another at 25%. So it cannot be a whole house setup.

RFi generators... Yeah we need more of that.

I bought a GE fridge/freezer in 1999 and am still using it. It has shifted house 5 times. Sick of looking at it. Might get a new stainless one some day...

Some refrigerators are "stainless look" but there are magnetic stainless steels. Austenitic stainless is usually non-magnetic but ferritic and martensitic are usually magnetic. For a refrigerator it really doesn't matter if it looks good.

Dropped an alluminum Beer can on the Freezer door top of my GE Profile SS Fridge. Nice dent there ever since. Cheap GARBAGE.

Lying in bed this morning listening to the stupid loud Fans in that same fridge.

WD 40 works well to shine up the SS.

Have a single door Whirlpool Gold here in the basement area. There's a two door Amana in the main kitchen. Both have freezers underneath. Both have been in service a good 10 years, probably more. Pretty sure we replaced the kitchen one 10 years back. Think the Whirlpool may be near 20.

Trouble with my GE is that the white plastic on the outside has gone yellow after all these years. I thought of painting it...???

There are some fridges that are not stainless and just a finish that looks like stainless. But every true stainless steel appliance I have seen is made of a grade that attracts a magnet. Even the high end Wolf and Viking stuff will let you stick magnets on them.

Hey, I wonder if they ever thought of making Almond coloured appliances. I really hate ugly white appliances. I still have a brown Kenmore stove that I just love the color of.

I was told that the cheaper the stainless, the more apt it is to be magnetic. More steel than nickle or some such thing.
