Are there any refrigerator companies that make a reliable fridge anymore ??

Best is when you try and chase them while they are still only heaving, onto an area of tile, but they run down the carpeted stairs puking! lol

We just started to have our Samsung fridge give us problems. Noticed the frozen stuff was not quite as cold. So I took it apart and found the thing was not coming out of the defrost cycle. So I unplugged it and the defrost cycle started and over the next 12 hours, water just kept draining out the bottom, but it was working again.

Repair man came out and found the thermal fuse was bad and suggested replacing the computer board while we were at it. The parts came to $150. Like new again.

The fridge is about 12 years old now, so I can't complain. The parts were easily attainable and cheap in my opinion.

It's probably been said. But often, the problem is just a plugged drain tube, not letting the water from the defrost cycle get to where it's supposd to evaporate.

Ours was totally clear. The problem was the thermal fuse going bad, a $18 part.

Also, I don't know about other brands besides Samsung, but most have a self diagnosis mode that lets you read a code of where the fault lies.

My old sears cold spot chest deep freeze is still kicking. If it quits tomorrow, I wouldn't be mad.
My parents bought it back in the 70's. And as far as I know, it hasn't missed a beat !

Mine was free.. we’ve had it since the late 80s, it was old when we got it.

Now gotta find a new freezer that will last. Lol

I've seen a lot of freezers that people keep in an unheated garage that kick out on the thermostat when the garage gets cold enough and the food in the insulated freezer begins to thaw. Most of these are chest freezers that have the thermostat mounted on the outside of the unit.
