Loader stuck up high - SOLVED !!

My not-so-favorite son-in-law got my new 3 month old Massey Ferguson 1735M tractor stuck in waist deep sticky clay mud. It's still stuck and we are slowly getting it out but... during the process, the loader has quit working - it's stuck in the high position. The bucket will still "tilt" but the loader does nothing. I checked the hydraulic lines and while they are caked with 6 inches of mud, they seem to be still connected.

When I try to lower or raise the bucket, the engine strains a tad and then I stop trying.

Any ideas?

It most likely popped one of the quick disconnects for the lines out.

That's usually a symptom for that. It might still look attached but it's probably not fully seated. You might want to re-check that. But with the loader in the air, it's under pressure and will be very hard to get it to connect again.

I learned the trick to relieve the pressure - handle of a pair of plyers. Messy, but it will relieve the pressure.

That works when the loader is on the ground but up high, it can be dangerous as it will keep pressurized until it will touch the ground.

Wedge an 8’ (or whatever fits) 2 by 4 under the loader to take the weight. Set the brakes. Turn off the engine.
Wrap the male tip with a couple layers of rag and stab it briskly against something hard, or strike it with a hammer a couple times, to depress the little tip.
Oil will fly and drip on the ground, but this will relieve the pressure.
Then wiggle the control handle from raise to lower several times, to relieve pressure on the female half the coupler.
Clean off the mud off of both components. You don’t want even a tiny bit of abrasive junk in the hydraulic system.
Should connect normally now. Good luck!

AFTER unplugging the connector right??

Then wiggle the control handle from raise to lower several times, to relieve pressure on the female half the coupler.

It's still disconnected at this point right??

Also, there are 4 quick connects labeled A,B,C,D (from top to bottom) - how do I know which one is for the loader? I'm thinking it is B

Yes, with tractor off, brakes set and suspected coupler disconnected..
For your loader, it shouldn’t be too hard to just follow the hose from the base end of the lift cylinder back to the stationary half of the coupling set. And if it really is dislodged, it will stick out a quarter inch further than the other three. Further, a light tug won’t disconnect a properly seated coupler, but your partially disconnected one should easily pop out.
This all assumes that it really is a disconnected coupler. And it sounds like the classic symptom of disconnected coupler.
I believe the top one on my 1754 is “loader up” and the next one down is “loader lower”, so you want to relieve pressure on the lift or up hose. The bottom two are for bucket curl.
This does not help you (yet) but I wrapped a different colored zip tie on each set of hoses/stationary coupler halves. So red goes to red, yellow to yellow, etc

What's the possibility that the issue is the connector at the bucket itself? The whole bucket is caked in about 3 inches of mud right now so I can't see any connections - gonna take a ton of paper towels and spray cleaner down to the tractor when it gets light to start checking things. btw: Tractor is still stuck.

Is it possible to check the joystick to ensure all is connected.

when I move the joystick, I hear the engine "idle down" like it is trying to move the bucket but no, I cannot see where it actually connects to the joystick - it is housed in plastic cover
