With gas around $1.50 around here and few working the EV's are not front page news or back page news. This can help the old line players pay catch up. It seems like they are willing to put most anyone in a lease on 2019 and 2020 because car sales are beyond dead.
The stock market ate a lot of Tesla's buyers in waiting. The RWD Model Y was not going to be made for a while yet so the higher margin dual motor versions could get pumped out. Musk has sent word to get ready to receive your 2WD version sooner than later. It was good he had a waiting list for the lowest end Model Y and some will not cancel.

While I am thankful we now have the 2020 40 kWh 33% larger battery in our 2016 Nissan Leaf that we bought last Oct and it is the car we use 99% of the time for getting to work. The 150 range is nice especially we were down to a range of about 60 miles of range on the old dying 30 kWh battery. We should be good for another 4 years barring any major wreck and not getting taken down by COVID-19 that is edging closer and closer each day as in 10-15 miles from our home/work.
Tesla and VW seem to be serious but I expect most EV's will be coming out of China, Korea and that part of the world in the future.
