That's one of the reasons I lined my impeller drum with UHMWPE -- it seems that metal is a bit thin there; I also had some holes in mine.

Now, I get to pull my block heater and replace it! Apparently the electric element has gone south and there's just a bit of continuity to ground -- it immediately trips a GFIC breaker as soon as it's plugged in.

Ordered one from Jack's yesterday -- amazingly, the price, though still steep, is about the same as I paid for mine back in 2008, about $150. Guess that's not too bad, as it's been almost 12 years and around 850 hrs, over half of which has been during the winter when I use the block heater quite a bit.

That setup looks great, nice install

I installed a WR Long Diverter Valve on my GC1710TLB. They shipped it with a flat black plate so I had cut it down a bit, weld on a piece of L channel steel and, repaint it black. I bought a U bolt and installed it on the cross member of the loader. The handle on the joystick feels comfortable and ergonomic in my hand. I don't love all the 'noise' over the loader arm but it'll do for now.View attachment 647319View attachment 647320View attachment 647321View attachment 647322View attachment 647323View attachment 647324

Installation look good!

So, I assume you ran hydraulic power to your diverter value from your quick connect fittings of your FEL curl/dump ports?

If so that seems to be a pretty easy install for a grapple.

When pressure washing my winter gear for hopefully the last storm and I find a gash in the blower drum. Maybe I'll need to start a new thread but I'm glad I find this at the end of the season and not at the beginning. Yes, I work my scut hard.

Ouch!!

We do not have snow in Montana that is abrasive like you have in NH, ha.

If mine ever does that, I think I would smooth out the exterior of the fan housing and add another outside skin to it.

Please let us know what your fix is.

The good thing about your MF block heater replacement is they are very easy to change.

The bad thing about your MF block heater replacement is, oh ya the cost of the new one...

I install my original MF block heater at 18 hours in January of 2010 ($129.35), and replaced it at 85 hours in November of 2010 (dealer warranty).

My block heater in this short time period started to leak antifreeze from the inside area of the prongs.

Good to know that Jack's carries them.

The kit is built for the lift/lower side of the loader and hooks into the T's above the lift cylinder on the loader arm. Hoses are all premeasured and cut and set to be installed on that part of the circuit. If you wanted to install it on the curl/dump you would have to redo hoses to grab off the T's for that circuit which is down by the cross member of the loader. Also, the electric part of this doesn't come with a plug so I used 2 wires of a trailer harness I had so I can still take my loader off when I mow. I'll switch to a weatherproof electrical socket in the future once I order it in after this pandemic.

Thanks for explaining, and I guess for a grapple it would make sense to have the curl/dump action of the FEL and also the open/close action of the grapple to function at the same time on the joy stick.

I have used the 4 flat wire trailer connectors for my snowblower electric actuators and have the plugs inside of the cab to protect from the weather.

Hope everyone is well and ok...

Today, I took a swing at "springtime coming soon", and removed the tire chains from the tractor.

It seems we have some spring snow coming tonight through Thursday with lows around 10 degrees F.

Oh well, these spring snowstorms usually do not dump a lot of snow 1" - 3" and after the storm, it usually melts fairly quick.

The picture is from our front deck looking out to the road, the ice is starting to come off of the driveway near the road (this area gets good afternoon sun when it's not cloudy).
