My Industrial Cabin Build

Ha! This July will be 7 years for me, and not done yet. All major items are complete, but I still have like 19 doors to make, and a ton of trim left. Plus the laundry room cabinets and sink... and the master closet built-ins... and the mudroom built-ins...

Fair warning - the work gets much slower the farther in you get. Finish work takes a lot more time than rough work.

But hey, I just finished the stairs last month - that only took 7 months for all the woodwork and railings...

Are those railings painted? Or stainless?

Anyway, looks great! Good job.

Thanks guys. 304 Stainless, and I had them electropolished after I was done TIG welding.

I won't hijack the thread with more photos, but my point is that work really slows down as you get into the finish stages, so be prepared for it.

Those railings are amazing. The stairs look fantastic. Not hijacking at all.
Weather has not been cooperative with me. And though I am home like most people now, I am working remotely and it seems to take more work and time. I have to work this weekend because we are upgrading our remote worker capacity ( Im a computer dork by trade). I will probably take a day or so off just to work on the house. Next week though, my granddaughter is staying with me because her mother is a nurse and her daddy is a construction worker. They might not be working much longer. Their boss is talking about shutting down.
This is from last weekend.

I asked the same question way back about why you didn’t start with a joist next to the wall. Why even use a joist hanger at the end, nail it to the outside wall.

Another great video.
I thought the same when I saw untied shoe. Please tie your shoes. Long ways down to fall after tripping.

Good to see more progress. I'm really curious to see how the roof goes on.

I guess I never thought about the flooring for the attic, only the spacing for support of the roof.
