Congratulations on the new tractor

...and thanks for the write up as adding a cabbed L6060 to the future fleet has been a consideration of mine. Be nice to have something in the 60hp to 80hp range to use as a "PTO on wheels" and for light off-road towing. A second tractor and perhaps (eventually) a third(?) would seem to be more useful than adding other equipment with it's own dedicated engine (e.g. wood chipper, or a site dumper).

Be advised that the L6060 is about 53 PTO HP.

AFAIK, it is the highest HP CUT available with HST transmission (comparable JD model (4066R?) may be rated a couple HP higher), which is the reason why I bought mine, but the 6060 is certainly not a 60-80 HP tractor.

You may well be disappointed if you plan to use one for heavy PTO work or for "towing" in high range.

I use mine mostly for mowing with a Woods BB720X, 6' rough cut mower, and that is all it wants in many conditions.

Curious about your mower. I dont know the specific about my Woods mower without going out and looking at it but its heavy duty 72in also and about 18 years old. I bought it used and ran it on my 35hp Kioti and it ran it just fine. Couldnt find a good used 5fter so bought this one. Mowed 5 acres that hadnt been touched in a couple years, 6ft tall in most place (mostly brushy weeds), and I never felt like I needed more power.

I actually have been looking for an 8ft dual spindle or 12ft bat wing for my new L6060 I have on order. Its been dry when I mowed and I dont win any speed records but I actually thought that 6ft was perfectly sized to the 35hp Kioti. Im guessing you are probably mowing a lot more thick heavy grasses? Not challenging your statement, just making sure I dont sell this one and buy a bigger one And end up unhappy with it.

Indeed, I do, DB.

In the event that you may not know, heavy grass mows MUCH harder than does tall weeds, and I haven't cleared any ground for 25+ years. As a result, much of my ground is heavy grass.

Yes, my BB720X is properly set up and, unlike most, I keep the blades sharp, much like a lawn mower, nor is there anything wrong with my L6060, but I am routinely HP limited in some areas, both steep and flat.

I try to mow as quickly as my mowers will clear properly, which is why I use premium quality mowers with adequate grass clearance, but doing so with my BB720X, even with sharp blades, would require 10-15 more PTO HP than my L6060 produces in some of my conditions.

That said, there are folks that pull 8' twin spindle cutters or 12' BW cutters with an L6060 so I would not want to discourage you if your conditions are different.

FWIW: In some of my conditions, I found myself gearing down below high range/1st gear to low range 6th (or even 5th) gear with my 90 PTO HP M9960 and Woods BB740X mounted 7' cutter (since sold) when operating in EPTO. Haven't found the need to gear down with my Woods BW 15.50 15' BW cutter on the 9960, but have made no attempts to operate it in EPTO or in high range.

How much hp do you suppose that M9960 is making in EPTO?

I usually ran it at about 600 PTO RPM, maybe 1,800 engine RPM, so probably about 60-65.

Still, even anticipating the heavy spots ahead, there were times when flooring the foot throttle in advance is not enough.

My L6060 cab was delivered last week.
I got the R4’s, FEL w4in1 bucket, single lever Hydraulic Quick Connect for loader and bucket. 3 rear remotes, one with float.
Rear and corner widow defrost. It’s been real wet here, so I haven’t gotten to use it much, but I’m thinking that the 4in1 might have been a mistake. It’s not a grapple, and not as good as a plain bucket. It has its place, but I can see buying a plain bucket in the future.

To be clear the bucket hydraulics are for the 3rd function, not the quick attach.

Id be interested to hear your feedback when you have some more seat time with it. Ive thought about one myself but afraid it wouldnt be nearly as effective as a rake grapple and more difficult to use effectively on a CUT than a skid steer since you just dont have the visibility with it. Plus I do very little bucket work. I got this woods 72” heavy duty bucket with my L6060 simply because the dealer already had it on hand for a customer that ordered it and never showed back up I think. But I rarely use my bucket to be honest. With about combined 60-70 hrs on my past 2 35hp tractors and 300hrs on my skid steer I probably had less than 10-15 total with a bucket. When you need them you need them but most of my time was with a tree and post puller ripping honey suckle and pushin/pulling out trees and cleaning up with a grapple that I sold with my skid steer. And the other random tractor things, blading, raking, mowing, ect.

I bought the Kubota 4-in-1 bucket with my L6060 and it was a mistake. Rarely useful for what I do and the excess weight above and beyond the regular bucket decreases payload. The only times that I have used it have been to pick up the occasional log that has floated into an area where I mow with Ohio River backwater. I can remove these almost as quickly with my 8N and chain.

That said, it might be useful for someone doing landscaping work.

I have no hard answer, hence the question. I suspect you are pretty close.
Overspeeding the PTO takes more HP in heavy work than running it at 540, but of course the HP output at 1600 ERPM is pretty modest. The relationship is probably close to linear.
