Does an ex-wife count as a purchase? (LOL)

I have found it is the stuff I have longed for years, that fails to work well for me. I bought a bulldozer after years of wanting one, and it was a real let-down. It just was not big enough, and what I really needed was an excavator. (My tractor can pull and push, a bulldozer just pushed a little better. I need a machine that digs and lifts...an excavator!)

But it can be simple stuff too. Like when I did woodworking, I thought a planer gauge would be awesome, then I got one and never used it.

It is for these reasons that I have really become a minimalist. I do some really nice carpentry, and yet only use a skillsaw now...no sliding compound miter saw, no tablesaw, none of that stuff. I have just adapted to use less, to still get stuff done. It is unAmerican I know; to be contented with what I have that is, and make the most of it, but I am NOT materialistic any more.

Now this is exactly what I'm talking about LOL

I regret buying that first wife. Nothing but grief and heartache. Chassis was tight at first then slowly began to loosen and spread (in more ways than one) Was a total money-pit too. The trade-in was well worth it though.

HaHa Doofy... They said my first marriage wouldn't last. They were right. After 32 years I had enough.... 2nd one is going on 20 years and great. You learn from your mistakes.

Like a lawnmower... The grass stops growing when you finally get that one you always wanted, then the drought sets in and it sits there for 3 years...

So many great answers. Keep 'em coming. Makes me feel better but reminds me of all the other must haves that I bought and never used.
Yesterday I found a brand new heat gun kit in a case in my shed. Forgot I even had it. But... I have a good heat gun I use regularly.... Shakes head....

Covid-19 has given me pause to evaluate priorities...

I'm thinking some things are no longer as important...

When you get right down to it, stuff is just stuff and not all that important in grand scheme of things.

In no particular order:

1977 Chrysler Cordoba (engine valves ate themselves, gutless pos)
Firestone 721 tires (one of the infamous "goes bang" sets of tires, blew front fender off said Cordoba while going down highway)
1982 Chevy K-10 pickup. Literally had to rebuild or replace every-single-component on the power train at least once, except the actual 4 spd trans. Never will I ever own another GM product.
2000 Jeep Wrangler (just a sorry pos, last -and worst- Jeep I've ever owned)

Bought a Desert Eagle 44 when they first hit the market (late 80's). Jammamatic, and was heavier then some of the rifles I had at the time (or since). Sold it and went back to revolvers.

We bought one new in '77. Beautiful car, but a POS. It had the big (I think it was a 400CU) engine, and it drank the gas. It had 3 carburetors on it the first year because something was always wrong with them. Sharn Jean used it in her work, and we got a deduction, but it was getting about 10mpg around town. Not only that, but it ate tires like a monster. Another thing; it was dangerous on wet or damp highway; and one ice or snow, forget it. It was almost impossible to drive and stay on the road. Sharn Jean was coming home from work one day, hit a little patch of ice between two hills near our house, and it swapped ends about three times. Traded it in on a new Honda Accord. The saving in gas made the payments on the new Honda.

Sounds like my Suzuki Grand Vitara V6. Bought it new and they had the motor to pieces twice and at 30,000 klm they needed to pull it down again. So I sold it to them. It was also very unstable on bitumen and very unstable/unpredictable on gravel roads. It was another regretful buy I must say.

As my hand is being iced, I'm again wondering if moving to the country was the right thing to do. I know my body would have taken much less beating. :(
