I have found it is the stuff I have longed for years, that fails to work well for me. I bought a bulldozer after years of wanting one, and it was a real let-down. It just was not big enough, and what I really needed was an excavator. (My tractor can pull and push, a bulldozer just pushed a little better. I need a machine that digs and lifts...an excavator!)

But it can be simple stuff too. Like when I did woodworking, I thought a planer gauge would be awesome, then I got one and never used it.

It is for these reasons that I have really become a minimalist. I do some really nice carpentry, and yet only use a skillsaw now...no sliding compound miter saw, no tablesaw, none of that stuff. I have just adapted to use less, to still get stuff done. It is unAmerican I know; to be contented with what I have that is, and make the most of it, but I am NOT materialistic any more.

In no particular order:

1977 Chrysler Cordoba (engine valves ate themselves, gutless pos)
Firestone 721 tires (one of the infamous "goes bang" sets of tires, blew front fender off said Cordoba while going down highway)
1982 Chevy K-10 pickup. Literally had to rebuild or replace every-single-component on the power train at least once, except the actual 4 spd trans. Never will I ever own another GM product.
2000 Jeep Wrangler (just a sorry pos, last -and worst- Jeep I've ever owned)

Bought a Desert Eagle 44 when they first hit the market (late 80's). Jammamatic, and was heavier then some of the rifles I had at the time (or since). Sold it and went back to revolvers.

What is this, a trick question? Of course I've bought stuff and then regretted it... but I'm a sucker for a gadget that I might use sometime in the future.

In a way I'm glad that this year everything is shut down, especially AGFEST, were I'd inevitably buy things that 'I never knew that I needed!'

But I've GOT them. (lifting strops, nibbler, clamp set, tripod light, dremmel kit, solar lighting kit, oh the list does go on...)

Same here....lots of it....but I am too old to fret about it.
It is just...stuff...that I STILL have.
My children will have to deal with it.

Worst of all was my brand new 1988 Chevy half-ton. Even bought that rip-off optional warranty; what a sucker I was. That Chevy was in the shop 8 times during the first 12 months. Strangely, none of the problems fell under any warranty repairs - like the battery blowing up, the windshield wipers starting up without human contact, brake lines breaking, failing to start for an hour, then suddenly deciding to start just fine. I think what I needed instead of an optional warranty was an optional lawyer! Needless to say, I traded that piece of junk off in month #13.
